They are so alike that sometimes it’s hard to tell which is Witch! Regrettably there are only a finite number of halloween-based puns that I can make before you close this appeal in disgust/disdain/derision (delete as appropriate) but, before you go, when it comes to Hocus and Pocus, I really must insist that you watch out for Vam-purrs! Ha! Like…like…vampires…Geddit? Do you…do you get it? My sincerest apologies… Hocus and Pocus are alike and unalike in equal measure. They are very alike in looks – Pocus’ white spot on his chest, Hocus’ slightly greater heft being their only real differentiating characteristics – but they’re strangely unalike in personality. Hocus is timid and wary, prone to skittering away into a hiding space at your approach, whereas Pocus is much bolder and more sociable, purrs come much more easily to him and he will seek out your company freely. It’s hard to believe that they’ve grown up in the same environment. In spite of Hocus’ timidity, they do share an indelible sweetness that cuts through their superficial differences. They are both gentle, tender, quiet – and greedy too! Food is relished as is kindness. It would be ideal if they could be adopted together, as they do get on so nicely and a quiet, settled home would suit them down to the ground. What do you say? Can you see in them two pumpkin-dred spirits? I know that you’ll take great scare of them! (Seriously, I’m very sorry.)
