They are so alike that sometimes it’s hard to tell which is Witch! Regrettably there are only a finite number of halloween-based puns that I can make before you close this appeal in disgust/disdain/derision (delete as appropriate) but, before you go, when it comes to Hocus and Pocus, I really must insist that you watch out for Vam-purrs! Ha! Like…like…vampires…Geddit? Do you…do you get it? My sincerest apologies… Hocus and Pocus are alike and unalike in equal measure. They are very alike in looks – Pocus’ white spot on his chest, Hocus’ slightly greater heft being their only real differentiating characteristics – but they’re strangely unalike in personality. Hocus is timid and wary, prone to skittering away into a hiding space at your approach, whereas Pocus is much bolder and more sociable, purrs come much more easily to him and he will seek out your company freely. It’s hard to believe that they’ve grown up in the same environment. In spite of Hocus’ timidity, they do share an indelible sweetness that cuts through their superficial differences. They are both gentle, tender, quiet – and greedy too! Food is relished as is kindness. It would be ideal if they could be adopted together, as they do get on so nicely and a quiet, settled home would suit them down to the ground. What do you say? Can you see in them two pumpkin-dred spirits? I know that you’ll take great scare of them! (Seriously, I’m very sorry.) About Hocus and Pocus

What life with Hocus and Pocus looks like

Hocus and Pocus is a young adult mixed breed cat cat waiting at RSPCA Chesterfield and North Derbyshire in United Kingdom.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Hocus and Pocus, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Hocus and Pocus?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. RSPCA Chesterfield and North Derbyshire handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Hocus and Pocus on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Hocus and Pocus if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — RSPCA Chesterfield and North Derbyshire will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Hocus and Pocus already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Hocus and Pocus isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with RSPCA Chesterfield and North Derbyshire early rather than rehoming privately; they know Hocus and Pocus and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
