Rupert on 8-vuotias labrador-rouva, joka on tällä hetkellä hoivaperheessä Taverhamissa Norfolkissa Safe Rescue -järjestön kautta. Hän on iloinen kotona, jossa on tai ei ole muita lemmikeitä, ja hän selviytyy hyvin muiden koirien, kissojen ja kanien kanssa, mutta hän ei sovi lasten kanssa, koska hän haluaa rauhaa. Rupert vietti suuren osan elämästään vapaina Ruotsissa ja sitten suljetussa julkisessa siirtokodissa. Kun hän saapui Yhdistyneessä kuningaskunnassa olevaan hoivaperheeseen, hän testasi puolipäivän ajan kaikkia rajoja, jotta hän voisi nähdä, onko mahdollisuutta päästä ulos, ja tämä käytös toistuu, kun hän asetetaan uusiin tilanteisiin. Vain silloin, kun hän on vakuuttunut itsestään, että hän ei ole erityisen koiraa eikä voi hypätä viiden jalan korkeisia hilsejä vanhoilla luukkuillaan, hän tekee pitkän hengäyksen ja rauhoittuu muodostamaan melko hyvin unelten päivän. Hän on tyytyväinen tilanteeseen, mutta hänen on ensin nähtävä, onko parempaa toisella puolella hilsejä. Tämä prosessi ei kestä kauan, mutta se vaikenee rituaaliksi, jonka voi odottaa, kun hän siirtyy. Rupert elää nyt iloisesti muiden koirien kanssa, mutta hän on hyvin huomiottomasti heidän suhteen. Hän olisi yhtä iloinen yksinään ja hän on elänyt ilolla kissan kanssa ja jakanut kiskot kissan kanssa hoivaperheessään. Hän ei ole ikinä saanut ihmisten läheisyyttä ennen, ja vaikka hän hyväksyy laulamista, hän ei vielä pyydä sitä. Hän rakastaa ruokaa, joten runsaasti kiskoja auttaa. Hän voi olla aina riittävän iloinen vain yhteistyössä, mutta kuka tietää? Rupert tykää ulkoilusta. Hän ei ole ottanut pitkiä rintaliivoja, vaan hän preferoi lyhyitä, jos hän on rajoitettuna. Hänellä on melko kova mieli, ja kun hän tuntee, että hän on kulkenut tarpeeksi, hän vain istuu ja odottaa, että häntä vakuutetaan. Hän on varmasti enemmän kylpyhuoneen tarkastelija ja turvallinen kentän hiomari. Varmista, että hilsejä on vähintään 5 jalkaa, muuten hän on poissa seikkailuissa! Rupert on ihmeellinen vanha mies, joka sopii täydellisesti kokeneille henkilöille, jotka ovat tuttuja aikuisilla koirilla, jotka tietävät omaa mieltään ja tykkäävät järvellä ja kiskosta. Rupert is a 8-year-old Labrador gentleman, currently in a foster home in Taverham, Norfolk through Safe Rescue. He'd be happy in a home either with or without other pets and he gets along with other dogs, cats and chickens but no children as he likes his peace. Rupert spent a lot of his life as a free spirit in Romania and then shut up in a public shelter. On arrival in his UK foster home he spent the first half day just testing all boundaries to see if there was a way out, when placed in new situations this is a habit that he repeats. Only when he has proven to himself that he is not super dog and cannot jump five foot fences with his aging bones will he give a big sigh and settle into a pattern of pretty much snoozing most of the day. He is content with his lot but has to just see first if there’s better on the other side of that fence. It’s not a process that lasts long but seems to be a ritual that can be expected when he’s moved. Rupert is living happily with other dogs now but is quite oblivious to them. He’d be just as happy as the only dog and has been cohabiting happily with the cat and even shares his treats with the cat in his foster home. He'd never really had affection from humans before and, although he's OK about getting fuss, he doesn't yet seek it out. He does like his food so plenty of treats should help. He'll probably always be happy enough just with company rather than cuddles, but, who knows? Rupert enjoys exploring outdoors. He hasn't taken to long lead walks though and prefers short ones if he's constrained. He has quite the stubborn streak and when he feels he's walked enough, he just lies down, waiting to be persuaded. He's definitely more of a garden potterer and secure field snuffler. Just make sure faences are at least 5 feet or he'll be off having adventures! Rupert is a comical old chap who will be the perfect companion for someone experienced with mature dogs who know their own mind and like ponds and treats. Safe Rescue have a policy that all dogs adopted from them must wear a slip lead on walks. Please only enquire about Safe Rescue dogs if you are happy to always use a slip lead – extendable leads are not acceptable to Safe Rescue. All dogs have to be collected and a crate must be used.
