Rupert è un gentiluomo Labrador di 8 anni, al momento in un ambiente di accoglienza a Taverham, Norfolk attraverso Safe Rescue. Sarebbe felice in una casa con o senza altri animali e si intende bene con altri cani, gatti e galline ma non con bambini poiché apprezzia la sua pace. Rupert ha trascorso gran parte della sua vita come spirito libero in Romania e poi rinchiuso in un rifugio pubblico. All'arrivo nella sua casa di accoglienza nel Regno Unito, ha trascorso le prime ore solo testando tutti i limiti per vedere se c'era un modo per uscire, quando si trova in situazioni nuove questo è un comportamento che ripete. Solo quando si è convinto che non è un cane super e che con le sue ossa invecchiate non può saltare recinzioni alte cinque piedi, darà un grosso sospiro e si sistemerà in un modello di sonnecchiare quasi tutto il giorno. È contento del suo destino ma deve sempre vedere prima se c'è qualcosa di meglio dall'altra parte del recinto. Non è un processo che dura molto ma sembra essere un rituale che si può aspettare quando viene spostato. Rupert vive felicemente con altri cani ma è abbastanza indifferente rispetto a loro. Sarebbe altrettanto felice come unico cane e si è convivente felicemente con il gatto e persino condivide i suoi dolcetti con il gatto nella sua casa di accoglienza. Non aveva mai ricevuto affetto dagli umani prima e anche se è OK con le attenzioni, non lo cerca ancora. Ama comunque il cibo quindi tanti biscotti potrebbero aiutare. Probabilmente sarà sempre abbastanza felice con la compagnia piuttosto che con le coccole, ma chi lo sa? Rupert ama esplorare all'esterno. Non si è abituato alle lunghe passeggiate con guinzaglio e preferisce quelle brevi se è vincolato. Ha una buona testardaggine e quando si sente che ha fatto abbastanza camminata, si sdraia aspettando di essere persuaso. È sicuramente più un esploratore di giardini e un cercatore di campi sicuri. Assicuratevi che le recinzioni siano almeno di 5 piedi o lui lascerà andare avventure! Rupert è un vecchio buffone che sarà il compagno perfetto per qualcuno esperto con cani maturi che sanno la propria mente e che amano i laghi e i dolcetti. Safe Rescue ha una politica per cui tutti i cani adottati da loro devono indossare un guinzaglio a scivolo durante le passeggiate. Rupert is a 8-year-old Labrador gentleman, currently in a foster home in Taverham, Norfolk through Safe Rescue. He'd be happy in a home either with or without other pets and he gets along with other dogs, cats and chickens but no children as he likes his peace. Rupert spent a lot of his life as a free spirit in Romania and then shut up in a public shelter. On arrival in his UK foster home he spent the first half day just testing all boundaries to see if there was a way out, when placed in new situations this is a habit that he repeats. Only when he has proven to himself that he is not super dog and cannot jump five foot fences with his aging bones will he give a big sigh and settle into a pattern of pretty much snoozing most of the day. He is content with his lot but has to just see first if there’s better on the other side of that fence. It’s not a process that lasts long but seems to be a ritual that can be expected when he’s moved. Rupert is living happily with other dogs now but is quite oblivious to them. He’d be just as happy as the only dog and has been cohabiting happily with the cat and even shares his treats with the cat in his foster home. He'd never really had affection from humans before and, although he's OK about getting fuss, he doesn't yet seek it out. He does like his food so plenty of treats should help. He'll probably always be happy enough just with company rather than cuddles, but, who knows? Rupert enjoys exploring outdoors. He hasn't taken to long lead walks though and prefers short ones if he's constrained. He has quite the stubborn streak and when he feels he's walked enough, he just lies down, waiting to be persuaded. He's definitely more of a garden potterer and secure field snuffler. Just make sure faences are at least 5 feet or he'll be off having adventures! Rupert is a comical old chap who will be the perfect companion for someone experienced with mature dogs who know their own mind and like ponds and treats. Safe Rescue have a policy that all dogs adopted from them must wear a slip lead on walks. Please only enquire about Safe Rescue dogs if you are happy to always use a slip lead – extendable leads are not acceptable to Safe Rescue. All dogs have to be collected and a crate must be used.
