Tippins is a lovely lady who has come into our care from a breeder. She can be apprehensive when meeting new people and may bark at strangers, but once she feels comfortable, her wonderful personality shines through. She has formed lovely bonds with staff at the rescue and, once attached to someone, she adores cuddles and wants to be as close to her favourite people as possible. She is a ridiculously affectionate girl who gives her whole heart to those she trusts. Tippins was briefly adopted as an only but has sadly returned to our care as she really struggled without another dog by her side. Although she didn't appear to rely on other dogs for comfort in kennels, she became very shut down in the home and struggled to come out of her shell. We therefore feel she will need a calm and confident resident dog, ideally her size or larger, to act as a role model and help her settle. She isn't particularly cuddly with other dogs, but she shares her kennel well and we believe having another dog around will help her feel more secure while she adjusts to her new surroundings. Tippins walks beautifully on her harness alongside her handler, although busy places and traffic can still make her nervous. Her new family should continue her confidence-building with quiet walks and plenty of reassurance. Although she has spent some time in a home, Tippins had never experienced home life before her adoption and so her adopters will need to be kind and understanding as she learns all about home life and house training. She will need a quiet home with adopters who have experience with ex-breeding dogs and understand that settling into a home may take her some time. Once she feels secure, she will try her very best to be brave and become a devoted companion. Tippins can live with teenagers aged 16 and over who are sensible and able to respect her need for a gentle introduction. Her adopters should also be prepared to welcome her onto the furniture, as we suspect this affectionate girl will thoroughly enjoy being close to her people once she feels safe. Tippins has returned to us with an ear infection and is currently receiving treatment. Our vets are monitoring her ears and will continue to provide any treatment she needs. She will need her ears to be monitored and cared for in her new home as appropriate. Tippins is a very special little lady who has made fantastic progress with us. With the right canine role model, an experienced and peaceful home, and the time she needs to settle, we hope she will finally discover just how wonderful life can be. This dog can be homed with a resident dog.
