She goes out for her walk, which she loves, and enjoys it calmly, without pulling or getting overly excited. She always goes to the bathroom during her walk, sniffs around, explores a little, and then comes back and sits with us in the office for a while. She gets a few pets, does a little round of the room, then goes into her crate, lies down, and relaxes. She settles so deeply that she falls asleep, and when it’s time to take her back to her kennel, it breaks our hearts. Vilma was once adopted, years ago. She was returned because she didn’t get along at all with the other dog in the family, and since then, luck hasn’t been on her side. She is a very gentle, low-key dog, extremely calm and incredibly sweet. She is deeply affectionate with people she knows and loves. With new people, she just needs a little time to show that affection. She is not fearful or strange, she is social, but she has been living in the shelter for many years now and doesn’t get to meet many people. We are confident that once she goes into a home, she will adapt from the very beginning. She will go on walks with her person, cooperate beautifully, and she won’t have accidents indoors. It may take her a few days to show just how affectionate she truly is, but she will. Vilma is a very, very good dog. The only small quirk in her otherwise wonderful personality is that she doesn’t particularly like female dogs. She is not aggressive, she simply prefers not to live with them. Vilma is now the first dog listed on our site, as she is the longest resident. She truly deserves a home, a family who will notice her among so many others and choose her. We believe she will thrive once adopted. If you are looking for a calm, gentle companion, she is the ideal match. It is the first dog on our site because it is now the oldest.
