Aki is currently struggling with being left alone, so any time she is left will need to be built up very slowly and patiently. She must be the only dog in the home, although she could potentially have calm walking friends who are happy to give her space. Aki isn't playing with toys at the moment, but we are hopeful this may change as she settles into family life. She could live with secondary-school-aged children who understand and respect that Akitas can be very independent and often like things on their own terms. Aki would love a patient, understanding family who will give her the time she needs to settle and build a trusting relationship. Aki is a beautiful 4-year-old Akita who is a super sweet girl with a wonderfully independent personality. She is happy to settle in her kennel and patiently waits for her turn to go out, where she really enjoys getting out and watching the world go by. Aki can be a little cautious when experiencing new things, but she soon gains confidence and becomes happy to explore new environments. She is comfortable being clipped on and off, is getting used to wearing a harness and is comfortable being groomed once a relationship has been built. When meeting new people, Aki is friendly, although she can give little away at first – a typical Akita trait until she has built a bond with you. Once that relationship is there, she becomes your very best friend. She enjoys the occasional fuss but is equally happy doing her own thing.
