He was originally bought from a breeder and lived with the family for nearly two years. It was an incredibly difficult decision for them to come to as they loved having him in the home. Benji is neutered and will be fully vaccinated and up to date with flea and worm treatments prior to adoption. We were given information about how Benji was in his previous home and we can use this, aswell as his behaviour we see on site to find the most suitable home for him going forward: – At night, he was used to sleeping in his own bed at the bottom of the stairs. – He is house trained and there were no issues with this in the home. – When left alone, Benji would just typically sleep and chill out till people came home and could be left for a number of hours. – He knows commands such as sit, roll over and is very good at having his harness put on. – Benji walks really well on lead and was used to being walked twice daily. – Benji loves being touched, groomed and pampered when he is comfortable – this is his behaviour 95% of the time as described by the owners. However, Benji can get stressed in certain situations. A home where he is given time to relax, and is encouraged to explore new environments and settings and build his confidence would be very beneficial. – Most importantly, we would recommend he not be rehomed into a family with young children or kids that visit frequently. Benji unfortunately resorted to ‘nipping’ on a couple of occasions when the kids weren’t able to understand or respect his boundaries. It seems that Benji is a little dog who loves people, fuss and a pampering but can at times get overwhelmed making him become a bit snappy. He has taken well to being in a kennel environment. He walks fine past kennels with neighbouring dogs, has been comfortable meeting new people and having them in his space. He is a real cutie and you can tell there’s a little character in there that we are excited to get to know better as he settles in with us.
