Danae was rescued by the Search & Rescue team, together with her son Percy after surviving in the streets. They spent a few months in a temporary placement with no socialising with canines or humans and now they are both with us in the shelter, living in a group of dogs. Although Danaer is a bit shy in the beggining, once she warms up to you, she is a very sweet and loving girl. When meeting other dogs she is a bit reserved, and is not afraid to ask for space, but now she is living with five other dogs (females and males) and she is extremely happy and thriving. Because of this, we would like that her new home has at least one social dog, in best case scenario a pack of dogs. Her ideal family will be knowledgable of Podencos and shy dogs, she will need some patience and time, to feel safe and start to blossom. As most Podencos, she has high prey drive, so a securely fenced garden would really be perfect for Darcy, to run and play with her canine siblings. At the moment Danae has not yet been out for a day with volunteers from the shelter, as she is still socialising and gaining confidence, but soon she will also have a daytrip to the nature, and start getting used to “normal” everyday life, so she will be better prepared for her new home. It will surely take her a bit of time to get used to new environments, and it would be great for her to find a home that has easy-going, nature-close daily routines. Daily outings to busy places and frequent social life with new people won’t be the scenario for Danae. Her shoulder height is approximately 48cm.
