Eros arrived at our shelter as a found stray. His owner picked him up after a few days at the shelter but then had to surrender him because Eros kept ending up in the wild without an appropriate setting. Eros found a new family very quickly. Unfortunately, the adoption didn’t go as hoped and he returned to the shelter a few months later. Although at our shelter Eros didn’t present any issues, things were different in the home, and difficulties gradually emerged. His physical, mental, and social needs weren’t being met, and his communication wasn’t always respected. This led to several biting incidents, mainly during walks when encountering other animals of the same species. He also tended to intervene between the couple when tensions rose within the home. All of this indicates a difficulty in managing his emotions and environment. Upon returning to the shelter, Eros quickly settled back in, and we found the Eros we knew before. He was therefore put back up for adoption. Unfortunately, the adoption failed again. Several biting incidents occurred in various contexts of frustration, constraint, and excitement. After a week of adoption, Eros returned to the shelter, and it was only then that we discovered his intense behaviors. A significant behavioral program was put in place, and it has borne fruit. Indeed, Eros is more relaxed on walks and is able to make the right decisions. However, this is only possible with a continued structured setting during outings. Additionally, he needs to go on socializing and supervised walks with other animals of the same species because Eros needs to interact with his peers but doesn’t know how to do it properly. We therefore prefer to place him in a home where he can interact with other animals of the same species without living with them. Eros is an intelligent, sensitive dog who can evolve a lot when understood and accompanied correctly. He is looking for experienced adopters who can read and respect his communication signals, respond appropriately to his physical and mental needs, and be aware of the long-term educational investment required. With a structured, consistent, and caring setting, Eros can reveal his full potential and build a stable and balanced relationship with his future humans. Given the risk of biting, we will not place him in a home with children. Also, Eros does not get along with cats. Without Collier is an active animal protection association in Belgium since 1972. Thanks to our two shelters and our social pension, we save over 1,700 dogs and cats annually who are abandoned, mistreated, or lost.

Eros est arrivé au refuge comme chien trouvé en divagation. Son propriétaire l’a récupéré après quelques jours au refuge, pour finalement, nous le céder car Eros se retrouvait régulièrement en liberté sans cadre adapté. Eros a très vite trouvé une nouvelle famille. Malheureusement, l’adoption ne s’est pas déroulée comme espéré et il est revenu au refuge quelque mois plus tard. Bien que chez nous Eros ne présentait pas de problématiques, cela a été différent en foyer, et les difficultés sont progressivement apparues. Ses besoins physiques, mentaux et sociaux n’étaient pas bien comblés, et sa communication n’était pas toujours respectée. Cela a entraîné plusieurs incidents de morsures, principalement en promenade lors des croisements avec des congénères. Il lui est également arrivé de s’interposer entre monsieur et madame lorsque le ton montait au sein du foyer. Tout cela indique une difficulté à gérer ses émotions et son environnement. De retour au refuge, Eros a rapidement retrouvé ses marques, et nous avons retrouvé le Eros que nous connaissions auparavant. Il a donc été remis à l’adoption. Malheureusement, l’adoption a à nouveau échouée. Plusieurs incidents de morsures étant survenus dans des contextes de frustration, contrainte et excitations très variés. Après une semaine d’adoption, Eros est donc revenu au refuge, et c’est uniquement à ce moment-là que nous avons découvert ses comportements intenses. Un gros travail comportemental a été mis en place, et porte ses fruits. En effet, Eros est plus détendu en promenade, et est à même de prendre les bonnes décisions. Cependant, cela n’est possible qu’avec une poursuite du cadre installé en sorties. Aussi, il a besoin de faire des promenades socialisantes et encadrées avec des congénères, car Eros a besoin d’interagir avec ses pairs, mais ne sait pas trop comment s’y prendre convenablement. Nous préférons donc privilégier un placement ou il pourra côtoyer des congénères sans pour autant vivre avec. Eros est un chien intelligent, sensible et capable de beaucoup évoluer lorsqu’il est compris et accompagné correctement. Il recherche aujourd’hui des adoptants expérimentés, capables de lire et respecter ses signaux de communication, de répondre de manière adaptée à ses besoins physiques et mentaux, et conscients de l’investissement éducatif important qu’il nécessitera sur le long terme. Avec un cadre structuré, cohérent et bienveillant, Eros pourra révéler tout son potentiel et construire une relation stable et équilibrée avec ses futurs humains. Compte tenu du risque de morsures, nous ne le placerons pas dans un foyer avec enfants. Aussi, Eros ne s’entend pas avec les chats. Sans Collier est une association de protection animale active en Belgique depuis 1972. Grâce à nos deux refuges et notre pension sociale, nous sauvons chaque année plus de 1 700 chiens et chats abandonnés, maltraités ou perdus.
