The Fern Beneath the Worry Fern has clearly had experiences that have made the world feel uncertain. Because of this, she needs time to feel safe in new environments and with new routines. When life feels too busy or unpredictable, she can become anxious and look for ways to calm herself, such as chewing, shredding or keeping herself busy. But this is not “bad behaviour”. It is communication. Fern is saying, “I need help feeling safe. ”And when she gets that help, she shines. She has already shown that she can learn, connect and grow. She is starting to enjoy puzzles, games and gentle training. Her confidence is building. Her tail is beginning to wag more. She is learning that people can be safe, that choices can feel good and that the world does not always have to be scary.
