How to Adopt a Dog? The story of Gea is one of patience, persistence, and second chances. For approximately six months, efforts were made to rescue her from the streets. The person she was living with was admitted to the hospital, leaving their animals to fend for themselves. We were able to take one of them in quickly, but with Gea, the process was much slower. Her total distrust of people was evident. To help her, we established a fixed feeding point, creating a daily routine that gradually gave her a sense of security. Over time, we managed to get close enough to plan her rescue. When we finally collected her, Gea was full of wounds and very ill, needing urgent veterinary attention. Today, her reality is very different: Gea is fully recovered and starting a new life. She is a medium-energy, intelligent dog with a great learning capacity. Although at first she may show some distrust towards unfamiliar people, she is a good dog who enjoys company and, with time, forms strong bonds. She gets along well with other dogs, cats, and people, and is accustomed to both open spaces and apartment life. Currently, she is in foster care, where she continues to work under the guidance of an educator. She is learning to walk confidently, to play, and to relate in a more relaxed manner. Each day, she takes small steps that reflect how far she has come since her rescue. Gea needs a family that understands her process, respects her pace, and continues with the routines she is already learning. In return, she offers something very special: the chance to see how a dog that has had a tough time regains trust and enjoys life. ¿Cómo adoptar un perro? La historia de Gea es una historia de paciencia, constancia y segundas oportunidades. Durante aproximadamente seis meses, se hizo un seguimiento para poder rescatarla de la calle. La persona con la que vivía fue ingresada en el hospital y sus animales quedaron abandonados a su suerte. Pudimos hacernos cargo rápidamente de uno de ellos, pero con Gea el proceso fue mucho más lento. Su desconfianza hacia las personas era total. Para ayudarla, comenzamos estableciendo un punto de alimentación fijo, creando una rutina diaria que poco a poco le dio seguridad. Con el tiempo, conseguimos acercarnos lo suficiente como para programar su rescate. Cuando por fin pudimos recogerla, Gea estaba llena de heridas y muy enferma, necesitando atención veterinaria urgente. Hoy, su realidad es muy distinta: Gea está completamente recuperada y empezando una nueva vida. Es una perrita de energía media, inteligente y con una gran capacidad de aprendizaje. Aunque al principio puede mostrarse algo desconfiada con personas desconocidas, es una perra buena que disfruta de la compañía y que, con tiempo, crea vínculos sólidos. Se lleva bien con otros perros, gatos y personas, y está acostumbrada tanto a espacios abiertos como a la vida en piso. Actualmente se encuentra en una casa de acogida, donde se sigue un trabajo guiado por un educador. Está aprendiendo a pasear con confianza, a jugar y a relacionarse de forma más relajada. Cada día da pequeños pasos que reflejan lo mucho que ha avanzado desde su rescate. Gea necesita una familia que entienda su proceso, que respete sus tiempos y que continúe con las pautas que ya está aprendiendo.
