Strengths: Poffy is a dog that never forgets. Once his trust is earned, with patience and respect, he becomes a loving companion. Weaknesses: Poffy has a difficult past: adopted as a puppy, he lived isolated in a pen for three long years, completely ignored by those who should have loved him. Then, abandonment. He is distrustful and very sensitive, he needs space, time and to be left free to choose if and when to approach. In some situations, if he feels cornered, he may react in self-defense. He is not used to a leash and currently experiences it with a lot of fear. He is following a behavioral rehabilitation program with dog trainers and a veterinary behaviorist, to learn to trust the world again. The ideal family: For Poffy, we are looking for an experienced family that knows how to read his body signals and respect his spaces and fears. He must live in a house with a garden, well-fenced, where he can move freely and safely. No children, no other animals: he needs to be the only one. It is available for adoption by people willing to support and continue the behavioral program started in the animal shelter, to build a relationship based on trust and mutual respect.
