Our cats, like other animals, also suffer from the heat, especially in urban areas where it quickly becomes stifling. Too much concrete, too much asphalt, apartments not always designed for these new living moments to adapt to. Where the heat accumulates... SIMPLE TIPS TO IMPLEMENT TO PROTECT YOUR CATS DURING THE SUMMER: Close the blinds if you have them or at least the windows and blackout curtains from the end of the morning. Provide shaded corners for them to rest peacefully. Fresh water available at all times, changed daily or a fountain for those who like it... A small initial investment but very practical and safe if you are not at home during the day. If they have access to the outside, do not let them go out except during the coolest hours, early in the morning or in the late evening. White cats are particularly sensitive to UV rays. You should (can) apply sun protection on their ears and nose, which are very sensitive. The belly as well if necessary (consult your veterinarian to choose the right products). If access is only via windows and balconies, think about protecting the access (protection-chats.fr) to allow them free access even when you are sleeping. Freezer Mattress that many cats love, cover it with a cloth or small cushion for maximum comfort. Do not overexert them, especially if overweight or suffering from heart disease or another condition. Nos chats, les animaux en général, soufrent eux aussi des fortes chaleurs, particulièrement en milieu urbain où ça devient vite étouffant. Trop de béton, trop de bitume, des appartements pas toujours conçus pour ces nouveaux moments de vie à apprivoiser. Où la chaleur s’accumule… CONSEILS SIMPLES A METTRE EN PRATIQUE POUR PROTÉGER VOS CHATS PENDANT L’ÉTÉ : Fermer les volets si vous en avez ou à minima les fenêtres et rideaux occultant dès la fin de matinée Laisser à disposition des coins d’ombre pour dormir tranquillement Eau fraîche à volonté, changée chaque jour ou Fontaine pour ceux qui aiment… Un petit investissement de départ mais très pratique et sécurisant si vous n’êtes pas chez vous en journée Si il a accès à un extérieur ne le laisser sortir qu’aux heures les plus fraîches, tôt le matin ou en fin de soirée Les chats BLANCS sont particulièrement sensibles aux UV Vous devez (pouvez) leur mettre de la protections solaire sur les oreilles et le museau, très sensibles. Le ventre aussi si nécessaire (en parler à votre vétérinaire pour choisir les produits adaptés) Si accès uniquement fenêtres et balcons Pensez à protéger les accès (protection-chats.fr) pour leur permettre un libre accès même quand vous dormez.
