Sophie (Shepherd X) Meet Sophie. Sophie is a 10-month-old young girl with a huge personality and a lot of love to give. She is affectionate, people-focused, very clever and loves being involved in family life. She enjoys cuddles, attention and meeting people, and she will usually assume every visitor has come especially to see her. Sophie is still young and can be very excitable when greeting people. She may jump up at first, but she responds to clear direction and settles once the initial excitement has passed. She has had training and will benefit from an experienced home that can continue with calm, consistent boundaries, lead work, recall practice and plenty of enrichment. She loves her walks and usually has around an hour of exercise each day. Sophie can pull on the lead and will need continued work in this area. Her recall can be good in the right setting, but she should stay on lead or on a long line unless in a fully secure area, as she cannot be trusted around rabbits, small animals or other high-interest distractions. Sophie can be good with other dogs, but she is very playful and excitable at first. She may be best as the only dog, or with a confident, tolerant dog of a similar size after careful introductions. She is not suitable to live with cats, rabbits, small furries or very small dogs. Sophie loves children, but because she jumps up and does not always realise her own size, she would be best suited to a home with older, dog-savvy children only. She is best fed separately from other animals and people, as she can be protective around food and treats. Sophie also appears to have food sensitivities, so her new home should continue with her current diet and avoid chicken and beef unless advised otherwise by a vet. Sophie settles best with company and will need a home where time alone is built up gradually. She can nap in a crate during the day if needed, but she is not used to being crated overnight. Sophie will make a loyal and affectionate companion for the right home. She needs an active, patient and experienced family who can give her structure, training, exercise and plenty of human attention.
