Chapi è arrivato da noi senza microchip e molto magro, ma anche in situazione di abbandono, Chapi era sempre di buon umore, pieno di vita e pronto a divertirsi! Chapi è un incrocio Shar Pei, ha il volto del Shar Pei, la forma del corpo, la lingua blu punteggiata ma non ha le tipiche pieghe cutanee pesanti sul corpo. La sua pelle e il suo corpo sono ora in ottime condizioni e al momento non necessita di nessuna dieta o medicina speciale per la sua pelle, come fanno molti Shar Pei. Chapi ama cibi e snack, quindi anche se i Shar Pei sono abbastanza testardi e a volte ignoranti riguardo alle regole e all'addestramento, è abbastanza facile addestrare Chapi, poiché ama cose gustose. Sfortunatamente, Chapi è già stato restituito da due case, e siamo devastati. Ciò che Chapi necessita è una casa tranquilla e sicura, in grado di stabilire regole e limiti per un cane, ma non solo - anche di interagire con Chapi in modo che crei una relazione di rispetto reciproco, non solo "Sono umano, tu fai come dico". Lezioni di obbedienza, passeggiate sociali con istruttore e altri cani, lavoro olfattivo, giochi di ricerca - tutti questi attività legano Chapi e il suo umano, rendendo la vita insieme molto più facile e leggera. Una persona capace di dire "no" al proprio cane e che aiuterà a sviluppare un cane bilanciato, sereno e sicuro. Quando Chapi è in un ambiente domestico senza esperienza e limiti, dallo stress distrugge giocattoli e bottiglie d'acqua o rotoli di carta igienica - per indirizzare lo stress. A volte anche difende molto bene i premi di alto valore come un osso di topino, quindi è importante avere regole in casa e ridurre i punti di conflitto potenziali. Chapi è molto giocoso e ama stare in contatto fisico con il suo umano, quindi cerca un umano coccolone, che non si preoccupi di baci appiccicosi su tutto il viso. Anche se deve indossare una mascherina dal veterinario quando viene fatta qualcosa di doloroso, è comunque il cane preferito delle infermiere, una volta terminata la procedura - baci e coccole alle infermiere veterinarie! Come tanti cani, Chapi ha displasia dell'anca/artrosi, quindi prende medicine per il dolore alle ossa ed ha bisogno di terapia fisica per aiutare a mantenere la sua mobilità. In rifugio è in programma di terapia fisica, come tanti altri cani, e va bene. Quando Chapi è motivato, può tirare molto forte con la guinzaglio, quindi ha bisogno di un umano che abbia pazienza per lavorare con lui su questo. Quando è in passeggiata sociale con altri cani e ha interazioni interessanti con umani e cani, è molto più calmo con la guinzaglio, rispetto a quando cammina da solo, allora va in zigzag e vuole annusare ogni cespuglio con urgenza. Chapi è veramente gentile con i bambini e si calma sempre l'energia quando è intorno ai bambini. Tuttavia, per il suo ambiente domestico, cerchiamo una casa senza bambini, per avere più struttura, routine e ambiente tranquillo per Chapi. Passano biciclette, monopattini e persone che non gli danno fastidio. Mentre al caffè, si sdraia con qualcosa da mordere e aspetta pazientemente. Sa sedersi e aspettare finché non trovi il tuo snack in tasca. Potrebbe convivere con uno o più altri cani, è rispettoso e freddo con gli altri cani e sembra anche con i gatti. Un cane calmo, equilibrato e educatore in casa sarebbe perfetto per Chapi, in modo che tutte le sue esigenze di interazione e socializzazione non siano responsabilità solo dell'umano, ma abbia anche un'uscita per le sue esigenze sociali con altri cani, che sarebbe fantastico! Nel caso non ci sia un altro cane in famiglia, sarebbero necessarie passeggiate guidate con altri cani - gli piace molto. La sua altezza alle spalle è di 52 cm, è un ragazzo compatto che viaggia bene in auto.

Chapi arrived to us without a microchip and very skinny, but even in the situation of abandonment, Chapi always was in happy spirits, full of life and ready to have fun! Chapi is a Shar Pei mix, has the Shar Pei face, body shape, blue-dotted tongue but doesn’t have the typical heavy skin folds on his body. His skin and body are now in very good condition and he does not require any special diet or medicine at this point for his skin, like many Shar Peis do. Chapi loves foods and snacks, so even though Shar Peis are quite stubborn and sometimes ignorant when it comes to rules and training, then it is quite easy to train Chapi, since he loves yummy stuff. Sadly, Chapi has already been returned from 2 homes, and we are devastated. What Chapi needs, is a calm confident home, who is able to set rules and boundaries to a dog, but not only - also to engage with Chapi in a way that creates a mutul respect relationship, not just “I am human, you do as I say”. Obedience classes, social group walks with trainer and other dogs, nosework, searching games - all of these activities will bond Chapi and his human, and make life together so much easier and lighter. A person who is able to say “no” to their dog, and will help develop a balanced, peaceful and confident dog. When Chapi is in a home environment without experience and boundaries, then from frustration he destroyed toys and water bottles, or toilet paper rolls - to direct his frustration. He also was sometimes guarding very high value treats like a ham bone, so it is important to have rules in the house, and to reduce potential points of conflict. Chapi is very playful and loves to be in physical contact with his human, so he is looking for a cuddly human, one that does not mind sloppery kisses all over your face. Even though he needs to wear a muzzle at the veterinary when something painful is being done, he is still the favourite dog of the nurse, once the procedure is over - kissing and smooching the veterinary nurses! Like many dogs, Chapi has hip dysplasia/arthrosis, so he is taking medicine for pain in the bones, and needs some physiotherapy to help maintain his mobility. In the shelter, he is on the physiotherapy plan, like many other dogs, and is doing well. When Chapi is motivated, he can pull quite strong on the leash, so he does need a human, who has the patience to work with him on that. When he is on a social walk with other dogs, and has interesting interactions with humans and dogs, then he is much calmer on the leash, than when walking by himself, then he goes zig-zag and wants to urgently sniff every bush. Chapi is really nice with children, and always calms down his energy when he is around children. However, for his home environment, we are looking for a home without children, in order to have more structure, routine and peaceful environment for Chapi. Passing bikes, scooters and people he didn‘t mind. While at the cafe, he lays down with something to chew on and waits patiently. He knows sit and waits until you find your snack in your pocket. He could potentially live together with one or more other dogs, he is respectful and cool with other dogs and also with cats it seems. A calm, balanced, educator dog in the home would be great for Chapi, so all of his interaction and socialisation needs are not the responsibility of the human only, but he has an outlet for his social needs also with the other canines, that would be great! In case there is no other dog in the family, then social guided walks with other dogs would be needed - he loves it. His shoulder height is 52cm, he is a compact boy who travels well in the car.
