dai Canili | 7 settembre 2020 | Cane, Cane, Liverpool, Cane in attesa lunga, Maschio, Sostienimi SFONDO E PERSONALITÀDexter è arrivato da noi perché il suo proprietario aveva difficoltà a dargli la cura di cui aveva bisogno.Quando Dexter è arrivato sembrava un piccolo cane amichevole e socievole, tuttavia dopo aver trascorso un periodo di prova in una casa sono emersi alcuni problemi.In generale Dexter è un ragazzo affettuoso, giocoso e tenero ma non gli piace essere manipolato troppo. COMPORTAMENTO E PROBLEMI MEDICIDexter ha seri problemi di difesa delle risorse, soprattutto intorno al cibo.Dexter ha trascorso diversi mesi con una famiglia che ha lavorato molto con il nostro comportamentista e hanno visto un miglioramento nel suo comportamento, tuttavia avevano due altri cani in casa e anche se Dexter si amalgamava bene con questi cani il nostro comportamentista ha ritenuto che il bisogno di Dexter di difendere le risorse fosse aumentato dalla loro presenza.Dexter ha alcuni problemi di salute, è stato diagnosticato con pancreatite e sta prendendo farmaci regolari per questo. Poiché Dexter ha problemi con il contatto, monitoriamo attualmente la sua condizione con esami del sangue almeno una volta all'anno. TIPO DI CASA NECESSARIODexter richiederà una casa molto esperta con un adulto solo, con un padrone calmo e sicuro che conosce il linguaggio corporeo dei cani. Avrà bisogno di tempo per abituarsi a suo ritmo e ne trarrà beneficio da un ambiente tranquillo con pochi visitatori.Dexter necessita di una casa solo per adulti, priva di bambini in visita e senza bambini previsti per il futuro.Dexter può convivere bene con alcuni cani durante le passeggiate, tuttavia cerchiamo una casa dove possa essere l'unico cane, non gli piacciono i gatti e fissarà gli animali piccoli quindi è necessaria una casa priva di animali domestici. BEHAVIOUR AND MEDICAL ISSUESDexter has quite severe resource guarding issues mainly around food. Dexter spent several months with a family who worked very hard with our behaviourist and they did see an improvement with his behaviour, however they did have two other dogs in the home and although Dexter generally mixed well with these dogs our behaviourist felt that his need to resource guard was escalated by their presence.Dexter does have some health issues, he has been diagnosed with pancreatitis & is on regular medication for this. As Dexter has issues with handling , we currently monitor his condition with blood tests at least yearly. TYPE OF HOME NEEDEDDexter will require a very experienced adult only home with a calm and confident owner who is familiar with dog body language. He will need time to settle in at his own pace and would benefit from a quiet environment with little visitors.Dexter will need an adult only home free from visiting children and with no children planned for the future.Dexter can mix well with some dogs on walks, however we are looking for a home where he can be the only dog, he does not like cats and will fixate on small animals so a pet free home is needed.
