Adopt Naïa

Naïa is a young Belgian Malinois of barely one year old, arrived at the shelter following incidents with the young girls in her previous family. Today, she is looking for a new start in a more suitable environment for her needs. Since her arrival, Naïa is still a bit lost and lacks orientation. She needs time to gain trust and feel safe. But according to her previous family, once she is trusted, she is active, playful, very affectionate and even "clingy" with her human. She already has some basic training which it will be important to continue and reinforce. Naïa mainly lived outside, spending most of her time in the garden, although she sometimes came inside at night. Therefore, it will be necessary to relearn house living (potty training, handling of loneliness, routines...). Used to daily walks, she has good listening skills, does not pull on the leash and knows how to walk by your side. However, she can be protective towards the person holding the leash, a point that will need to be worked on consistently. Naïa is okay with dogs, although the compatibility will need to be confirmed during a meeting at the shelter. On the other hand, she is not okay with cats and given the two incidents with the young girls in her previous households, we prefer to place her without children or teenagers for safety reasons and to allow her to develop calmly.

Naïa est une jeune malinoise d’à peine un an, arrivée au refuge suite à des incidents avec les jeunes filles de son ancienne famille. Aujourd’hui, elle cherche un nouveau départ dans un environnement plus adapté à ses besoins. Depuis son arrivée, Naïa est encore un peu perdue et manque de repères. Elle a besoin de temps pour accorder sa confiance et se sentir en sécurité. Mais d’après son ancienne famille, une fois en confiance elle se montre active, joueuse, très affectueuse et même « pot de colle » avec son humain. Elle possède déjà quelques bases d’éducation qu’il sera important de poursuivre et renforcer. Naïa vivait principalement à l’extérieur, passant la majorité de son temps dans le jardin, même si elle rentrait parfois la nuit. Il faudra donc reprendre les apprentissages de la vie en maison (propreté, gestion de la solitude, routines…). Habituée aux promenades quotidiennes, elle a une bonne écoute, ne tire pas en laisse et sait marcher au pied. Elle peut toutefois se montrer protectrice envers la personne qui la tient en laisse, un point qui devra être travaillé avec cohérence. Naïa est ok avec les chiens même si les ententes seront à confirmer lors d’une présentation au refuge. En revanche, elle n’est pas ok chat et au vu des deux incidents avec les jeunes filles de son précédents foyers, nous préférons la placer sans enfants ni adolescents par mesure de sécurité et pour lui permettre d’évoluer sereinement.
