Boni is an exceptionally smart, alert, and spirited dog who absolutely loves human company. As soon as she feels safe, she’ll happily jump onto your lap, snuggle up close, and eagerly seek affection. For Boni, the greatest reward and source of value is the closeness of her beloved human companion. Boni arrived at the shelter extremely thin and neglected. Despite this, she hasn’t lost her trust in people. She adores taking walks together, eagerly sniffs around and explores the world, responds beautifully to her caregiver, knows the “sit” command, and collaborates with humans with great enthusiasm. She’s intelligent and learns quickly, making working with her incredibly rewarding. However, the shelter is a very challenging place for Boni. The abundance of stimuli and the presence of many other dogs cause her to become highly aroused—she barks at passing dogs, pulls on the leash, and finds it difficult to keep her emotions under control. Importantly, when the shelter’s hustle and bustle fade away and there are no other dogs in sight, Boni can wonderfully calm down. After just a few minutes of walking, she slows her pace, starts sniffing calmly, and reveals her true, tender side. She also handles urban noises bravely—she isn’t afraid of cars or street noise. We’re looking for a conscientious and patient home for Boni, one that will help her learn to react more calmly to other dogs and manage her emotions, and that’s prepared to work with a young dog. Boni was assessed at the shelter as being 3 years old, but we suspect she might actually be younger, as she behaves like a typical teenage dog. She’s a little rascal who can climb over fences and mesh screens, so she shouldn’t be left unsupervised in the garden or on the balcony. We don’t recommend Boni for homes with small children or for noisy households where a lot is going on. We don’t know how Boni gets along with other companion animals, including cats. During the adoption process, we strongly recommend a pre-adoption visit to see how Boni adjusts to the home and its potential walking environment. If Boni were to go to a home where another animal already lives, it would be essential to introduce her to the resident animal first.

Boni to niezwykle mądra, bystra i rezolutna sunia, która uwielbia kontakt z człowiekiem. Gdy tylko poczuje się bezpiecznie, najchętniej wskakuje na kolana, wtula się i dopomina się czułości. Dla niej największą nagrodą i wartością jest bliskość ukochanego człowieka. Boni trafiła do schroniska bardzo wychudzona i zaniedbana. Mimo tego nie straciła zaufania do ludzi. Kocha wspólne spacery, chętnie węszy i odkrywa świat, pięknie reaguje na opiekuna, zna komendę „siad” i z ogromnym zaangażowaniem współpracuje z człowiekiem. Jest inteligentna i szybko się uczy, dlatego praca z nią daje mnóstwo satysfakcji. Schronisko jest jednak dla Boni bardzo trudnym miejscem. Nadmiar bodźców i obecność wielu psów sprawiają, że mocno się pobudza – szczeka na mijane psy, ciągnie na smyczy i trudno jej opanować emocje. Co ważne, gdy niknie schroniskowy zgiełk, a na horyzoncie nie ma innych psów potrafi pięknie się wyciszyć. Po kilkunastu minutach spaceru zwalnia tempo, zaczyna spokojnie węszyć i pokazuje swoje prawdziwe, czułe oblicze. Dzielnie radzi sobie także z miejskimi dźwiękami, nie boi się samochodów ani ulicznego hałasu. Szukamy dla Boni domu świadomego i cierpliwego, który pomoże jej nauczyć się spokojniej reagować na inne psy i regulować swoje emocje, przygotowanego na pracę z młodym psem. Boni została oceniona w schronisku na 3 lata, ale wydaje nam się, że może być młodsza, bo zachowuje się jak typowy psi podrostek. To mała spryciula, która potrafi wspinać się po siatkach i kratach, dlatego nie powinna zostawać bez nadzoru w ogrodzie czy na balkonie. Nie polecamy Boni do domu z małymi dziećmi, domu głośnego, w którym dużo się dzieje. Nie znamy stosunku Boni do innych zwierząt towarzyszących, w tym kotów. W procesie adopcyjnym rekomendujemy wizytę przedadopcyjną, aby sprawdzić jak Boni odnajdzie się w domu oraz potencjalnej okolicy spacerowej. Jeśli Boni miałaby trafić do domu, gdzie jest już inne zwierzę, wymagane będzie zapoznanie z rezydentem.
