Chilli and Berry are two gorgeous 18-month-old Toggenburg-cross brothers who are looking for a special home where they can stay together for life. These lovely boys are very closely bonded and have always had one another for company, so they must be rehomed together. They are neutered ready to start the next chapter of their lives. Chilli and Berry are active, inquisitive young goats who need plenty of space and enrichment to keep them happy. Goats naturally love to browse, climb, explore and investigate, so we’d love to find them a home with plenty to keep their busy little minds occupied. Their new home will need a warm, dry and cosy stable or suitable shelter, along with a secure, escape-proof paddock with plenty of grazing and browsing opportunities. Logs, platforms and other goat-safe climbing and enrichment areas would also be fantastic. We’re looking for someone who understands that goats need much more than simply a field and a shed. Chilli and Berry need companionship, enrichment, appropriate nutrition, routine healthcare and plenty of opportunities to behave like goats. We’d ideally like them to go to someone with experience of keeping goats, although we would also consider a knowledgeable home that has done plenty of research and can demonstrate that they understand their needs and the responsibilities involved. Most importantly, we’re looking for a permanent home for these two boys where they’ll be safe, well cared for and able to grow old together. They also have a very special pony friend called Ruby, and it would be wonderful if they could find a home where the three of them could stay together. Important information about adopting goats Although Chilli and Berry are looking for a home as much-loved companion animals, goats are legally classed as livestock, so there are some additional requirements that their new home will need to meet. Before adopting Chilli and Berry, their new keeper will need the appropriate County Parish Holding (CPH) number for the land where they will live and will need to be correctly registered to keep goats. Their new keeper will also need to comply with the relevant identification, movement and record-keeping requirements and contact the appropriate local Animal Health authority where required. We’re very happy to discuss these requirements with potential adopters, but please make sure you’ve researched the legal and practical responsibilities involved in keeping goats before applying. If you feel you could offer Chilli and Berry the right home, please email and tell us a little about yourself, your experience with goats or other livestock, and the accommodation, grazing and facilities you can offer them. We are happy to consider homes up to around two hours’ travel from the rescue. Any further than this can make it difficult for us to offer the support we feel is important after adoption.
