No one treated them as living beings, unique personalities. No one cared about them. To their owners, they were just money-making machines… But then everything changed. The breeding facility closed down and Lupínek moved to us. For the first time in his life, someone cared about him. For the first time, he got a name. For the first time, someone truly loved him. He was scared, but also full of hope. He hoped that everything bad was left behind in the walls of the breeding facility. But then his health issues began to surface… In just six months, his teeth were in a catastrophic state. He barely ate and was plagued by cavities. His gums had an unusual shape. And he clearly went through several episodes of hypoglycemia. Lupínek is still a small puppy, but he has already endured more than many other animals in their entire lives… At first, he underwent several examinations, including cardiology and X-rays of his entire body. The good news was that his heart was healthy and, while his glands had an atypical shape, they were functioning correctly according to blood test results. Lupin’s condition unfortunately became so complicated that he ended up in the hospital for a few days. He had a blood clot, was vomiting, and barely ate… It was clear that he was really not feeling well. Fortunately, his condition improved relatively quickly during the hospitalization. According to Dr. Lupínek, it was likely due to some nasty infection. The surgery was initially postponed twice because the doctor’s heart didn’t like his heart on the X-rays, and the second term was again disrupted by an infection and hospitalization. But everything finally worked out in the end, and Lupínek could safely undergo the surgery.

Nikdo je nebral jako živé bytosti, jedinečné osobnosti. Nikomu na nich nezáleželo. Pro majitele byli jen stroje na peníze… Pak se ale všechno změnilo. Množírna se zavřela a Lupínek se přesunul k nám. Poprvé ve svém životě na něm někomu záleželo. Poprvé dostal jméno. Poprvé ho někdo skutečně miloval. Byl vyplašený, ale taky plný naděje. Doufal, že všechno špatné nechal za zdmi množírny. Jenže pak se začaly projevovat jeho zdravotní potíže… Už v šesti měsících měl zuby v katastrofálním stavu. Málo jedl a trápily ho průjmy. Nesestoupila mu varlata. Ledviny měly nezvyklý tvar. A navíc zjevně prodělal několik epizod hypoglykémie. Lupínek je ještě malé štěně, ale už teď si vytrpěl víc, než mnoho jiných zvířat za celý život… Pro začátek brouček podstoupil několik vyšetření, včetně kardiologie a rentgenů prakticky celého těla. Dobré zprávy byly, že srdíčko je zdravé a ledviny mají sice atypický tvar, ale podle krevních výsledků fungují správně. Lupínkův stav se bohužel zkomplikoval natolik, že nakonec skončil na několik dnů na hospitalizaci. Měl krvavý průjem, zvracel, málo jedl… Bylo mu viditelně opravdu špatně. Na hospitalizaci se naštěstí celkem rychle zlepšil. Podle pana doktora byla nejspíš na vině nějaká ošklivá infekce. Zákrok se nejprve dvakrát odložil, protože poprvé se paní doktorce na rentgenech nelíbilo srdce a druhý termín zase narušila infekce a hospitalizace. Do třetice všeho dobrého to ale konečně vyšlo a Lupínek mohl bezpečně podstoupit zákrok.
