Maisie is a little dog with a very big heart, looking for someone special to call her own. Maisie arrived at Danaher Animal Home as a stray, so sadly we don't know much about her life before coming into our care. When she first arrived, the busy kennel environment was very overwhelming and she became quite shut down. Since spending time in a quieter environment and in foster, we've seen a much more affectionate side to Maisie. Maisie loves being close to her people and absolutely thrives on affection. She is happiest curled up on a lap or cuddled beside you and will often seek reassurance from the person she trusts. She can be a little nervous when meeting new people and may tense up or step backwards if approached too quickly, so she needs people who will take introductions slowly and calmly. Maisie is still building confidence outside and tends to stay close to her handler when out on a lead. She would benefit from patient owners who can help her gradually become more confident and independent. Maisie may need a little reassurance while she settles into her new life, but once she trusts you, she has so much love and affection to give. She is waiting for someone willing to take things at her pace and show her how wonderful life can be.
