Ned is a 4 year old blind shar pei who was sadly found as a stray and is now available for adoption at Pawprints Dog Rescue in the Midlands Ned is a 4 year old shar pei searching for his forever home. Ned had to have eyes removed due to severe ruptures to both eyes which he must have lived with for a long time, this meant he would have been in a lot of pain. Despite this Ned has shown that he is very affectionate and playful, if you’re looking for a dog with so much love to give, Ned could be the perfect addition to your family. Although he is blind, he doesn’t let that stop him from enjoying life. Once he learns his surroundings, he moves around confidently and uses his nose to find his favourite toys. Because he can’t rely on his eyesight, he would like to live in a calm environment where furniture and layouts stay familiar, and where his new family can give him the time he needs to build confidence and can settle into a consistent routine. He would like to have a garden of his own please as this will help him settle in, he may not need walks initially as just mapping out the house and garden layout will be a lot for him to cope with. Ned forms strong bonds with his favourite people and enjoys human company, whether that’s having fuss and cuddles, going for walks, or playing tug of war with his toys. He’s happiest in people’s company and would like a family who are around most of the time and can build up any alone time slowly. He’ll need someone who can continue to support him with verbal cues, patience, and lots of reassurance. Ned may need to meet potential adopters a few times to build a relationship, so we are looking for a family committed to coming to our rescue kennels multiple times a week for that initial getting to know period. Ned would prefer to be the only dog in the home as he needs more socialising with other dogs, he has shown the ability to walk alongside other calm dogs but struggles with close interaction. He cannot live with cats but could potentially live with caged small furries/caged pets.
