Support and Health How much training will I need? Needs some support Can I be left alone? Potentially, once settled In his previous home, Ozzy was able to be left alone for extended periods with full access to the house and would settle nicely on the sofa. As he will now be the only dog in the home, we are unsure how he will cope with being left alone. Any time spent home alone will likely need to be built up gradually from scratch following a settling-in period. Do I have any medical conditions? Existing conditions Ozzy has several current medical conditions, including flea bite hypersensitivity, which has caused hair loss; spondylosis; and weakness in his hind legs. He has also had a benign mass removed. These conditions will require consideration before Ozzy is rehomed. Our rehoming team will be able to provide further information if you apply to rehome Ozzy and are identified as a suitable match. We also advise that any medical conditions, whether historic or ongoing, are discussed with your own vet before taking Ozzy home. Who I can live with Can I live with dogs? No Can I live with cats? Yes, conditionally - Could Live with Securely Housed Small Pets Additional information Ozzy has lived with a female Collie in his previous home, and they coexisted well together. However, Ozzy much prefers human company, and we feel he would be happiest as the only dog in his new home. Ozzy has also lived with two cats in his previous home. He even let them boss him around and kick him out of his bed! He could live with cats again in his new home, provided that appropriate introductions are carried out. Family and environment What kind of family am I looking for? Ozzy is a happy, friendly boy, but he is also very independent. He will sometimes excitedly pull towards people to greet them, only to be ready to move on after a brief hello. At other times, he doesn’t seem particularly interested in interacting and is happy to do his own thing. Ozzy lived with children in his previous home and was always very gentle with them. However, he would often take himself away when he had had enough attention. If he were to live with children again, we would recommend a home with children aged 8 years and over who can understand and respect his need for space. What type of environment would suit me? Ozzy will require access to a secure, private garden in his new home. He would love a safe outdoor space to call his own, where he can relax, explore, and enjoy spending time with his new family. His favourite place in the world is wherever his humans are, whether that’s relaxing at home, enjoying a quiet evening on the sofa, or heading out for an adventure together. A true cuddle expert, Ozzy loves nothing more than curling up for a snooze on the sofa after spending quality time with his favourite people. Despite being a senior gentleman, he still enjoys his daily walks and thrives outdoors, taking in all the sights, sounds, and smells around him. Ozzy has a cheerful personality and a special talent for brightening people’s days. His wagging tail, kind eyes, and affectionate nature make him a joy to be around. He loves companionship and is happiest when he can be close to the people he cares about.
