Ze is oneindig grappig, een beetje onhandig zonder enige ruimtegevoel, en compleet onverontschuldig daarover, wat alleen maar haar charme vergroot. Plum straalt licht als een kerstster en vult elk plekje met warmte, lach en liefde. Ze is zeurderig, speels, enthousiast en mooi evenwichtig door haar liefdevolle hart en zachtaardige ziel. Plum is Plum, en dat is meer dan genoeg. Ze verdient geliefd te worden om haar kwajongensachtige trekjes, haar zeurderigheid en haar feestelijke schittering, omdat haar liefde groot is en haar vriendelijkheid werkelijk speciaal. Plum is in de kooi opgegroeid alsof ze hier altijd was, en het voelt echt alsof ze al jaren onder ons gezin hoort, zoals een favoriete kerstpudding die elk jaar verschijnt en alles beter maakt. Ze stapt in elke routine, elke nieuwe situatie en elke nieuw gezicht met die durfkoeke plum-schittering van haar, neemt alles in haar eigen tempo zonder enige zorgen. Haar uitbundige persoonlijkheid straalt zo fel als een kom feestelijk fruit, en ze wordt zelden van haar stuk gebracht door wat het leven haar biedt. Na haar speelse periodes, knuffels en sociaal contact, gaat ze weer over op de klassieke greyhound-modus, zich opkrulend en slapend als een gezellige wintertraktatie nadat ze haar plezier had gehad. Deze meid is zo volgelopen met blijheid dat ze eigenlijk een geval van happy tail kreeg en een staartamputatie nodig had, wat eerlijk gezegd haar opvatting perfect samenvat. Ook daardoor nam ze het allemaal in haar eigen tempo zonder enige klacht, nog steeds waggelend met wat ze nog had van pure blijheid. We grapjes vaak dat ze zo hard waggelde dat ze kon opstijgen, zoals een plumpudding-vermogende rendier. Haar liefde voor het leven is besmettelijk en drukt zich uit op iedereen om haar heen, waardoor warmte en glimlachen overal zijn. Door haar zelfverzekerde en aanpasbare natuur zou Plum geschikt zijn voor een breed scala aan huismilieus en zou ze perfect passen waar ze terechtkomt, zoals het eindlaagje op een perfecte trifle. Ze is zelfverzeker, uitbundig en zou goed werken in drukkere omgevingen, volledig ongestoord door de wereld om haar heen, mits haar mensen naast haar blijven. Eén ding dat ik wil noemen is Plum aan de lijn, want haar enthousiasme voor wandelingen komt soms bovenop haar en ze vergeet soms dat ze vier poten op de grond heeft. Ze loopt momenteel met een halsband, en sommige dagen spendeert ze een beetje te veel tijd op haar achterpoten, bereid om te verkennen zoals een frisse feestelijke vonk. We werken hier aan het lopen met een losse lijn, en zij probeert al erg moedig om te leren, vooral als ze zich meer ontspant. Dit is iets dat verder zal verbeteren met leiding en geduld, en het zou echt niemand moeten afschrikken. Plums persoonlijkheid is echt de showstopper, rijk, blij en voller van smaak, en dat is wat echt belangrijk is. After her bursts of playing, cuddling, and socialising, she happily switches back into classic greyhound mode, curling up and snoozing away like a cosy winter treat once she has had her fun.This girl is so wonderfully full of joy that she actually ended up with a case of happy tail and needed a tail amputation, which honestly sums her up perfectly. Even through that, she took it all in her stride without a single fuss, still wagging what she has left with pure delight. We always joke that she wagged it so hard she was about to take flight, like a Plum-powered reindeer. Her love for life is infectious and rubs off on everyone around her, bringing warmth and smiles wherever she goes. Because of her confident and adaptable nature, Plum would suit a wide variety of home environments and will fit right in wherever she lands, like the finishing layer on a perfect trifle. She is confident, outgoing, and would do very well in busier environments, totally unfazed by the world around her, as long as her humans are right by her side.One thing to mention is Plum on the lead, as her excitement for walks sometimes gets the better of her and she can forget she has four paws on the floor. She is currently walking on a harness, and some days she spends a little too much time on her back legs, keen to get out and explore like a fizzy festive sparkler. We are working with her on loose lead walking here, and she is already trying so hard to learn, especially as she settles more. This is something that will continue to improve with guidance and patience, and it really should not put anyone off. Plum’s personality is the real showstopper, rich, joyful, and full of flavour, and that is what truly matters.At the moment, Plum is kennelled with Eggnog, and the two of them get on brilliantly, like a festive pairing made to be. She is very social with other greyhounds and would be more than happy sharing her forever home with one or two hound friends. Her confident nature makes her wonderful at helping nervous boys settle in, gently showing them that life is sweet and nothing to fear. That said, Plum is also very much a people dog and would be just as happy as the only dog in the home, soaking up all the love and attention for herself like the star of the Christmas table. Plum would love to be part of a family and would happily live alongside older dog-savvy children. Because she loves giving enthusiastic and bouncy cuddles, she would need children who are comfortable around bigger dogs and who can enjoy her affection as much as she loves giving it. She gives her love freely to any human who is ready to receive it. She would also be equally happy in an adult-only home, so long as her humans adore her just as much as she adores them.During her dog test, Plum did struggle a little, which we were prepared for after her trainer told us he wasn’t sure if she would pass. She was very enthusiastic and a bit overwhelmed, especially when seeing Blossom, but she showed some really promising behaviour. After an excited
