Poppy is an affectionate girl with a big personality and an even bigger love of snuggles! Once she knows you, she is incredibly sweet and loves nothing more than attention. She enjoys playing fetch with her ball, squeaky, soft toys and ‘find it’ games. She is intelligent and already knows a big bag of tricks. Her favourite treats are hot dogs; she also likes cucumber. She loves to do zoomies and have a go at fun agility. She’s agile and clever and she also loves to be lazy. Be prepared for her to take up all the room on the sofa, as Poppy loves to stretch out and get comfy! She adores spending plenty of quality time relaxing at home with the people she loves. Poppy can be a little worried when she first meets unfamiliar people and may bark initially, but with a calm introduction she makes friends surprisingly quickly. Give her a few minutes to work out that everything is okay, and you’ll soon see the soft, snuggly side of her personality. She can be similar around unfamiliar dogs. Poppy enjoys canine company and has even attend doggy daycare, but she can sometimes bark when she first sees another dog or become a little over the top when saying ‘hello’. Her new family will need to be happy to continue helping her with this and give her the space she needs when out and about. She has learnt to wear a muzzle and happily wears it on her walks as an added precaution. Poppy may need a little understanding at first, but beneath those initial barks she is a lovely girl just waiting for the right people to see her for who she really is. Poppy is a gorgeous four-year-old Deerhound cross Mali looking for a calm, predictable household with adult adopters. She is looking to be the only dog in the home and would benefit from having social doggy pals when out and about. She will need a home without cats and small furries, and care may be needed around livestock. Poppy is housetrained and she travels well in the car. She sometimes needs a little time to feel comfortable with new people and would therefore suit a home without lots of visitors. Poppy isn’t looking for a busy social calendar. Her perfect life would be somewhere quieter, ideally in a rural or semi-rural location, where she can enjoy peaceful walks through fields, woods or along the beach before heading home to relax on the sofa.
