Ray could live with children aged 10+. He would like a home where he can have some supervised outdoor access. Ray is a wonderful boy who has been a pleasure to get to know and spend time with during his time here at the shelter. He is a super friendly lad who loves people. We have no background information on Ray after he arrived into our care as an unneutered stray with no microchip, but we suspect he must’ve been in a home at some point in his life as he is such a sociable chap. Ray is blind and so we typically see him listening and smelling to find where we are, once he’s had a sniff of our hands – he loves having a stroke and being made a fuss of! He also can’t follow toys very well, but loves to roll around in catnip or play with catnip toys. Although Ray manages incredibly well with his lack of sight, he will need an understanding home who can cater to his needs and keep his environment consistent and predictable. We know he has previously had outdoor access and we feel it would be a shame to prevent him enjoying this again, so he is looking for a family who can offer him some safe, supervised outdoor time where he can enjoy having a potter and smell of the garden. Ray has also had some issues using the litter tray in our care, which we feel may be because he has previously been used to toileting outside. Ray’s confident and happy character is such a joy to be around. He doesn’t let anything hold him back and has appeared totally unfazed by his arrival at the shelter, despite his lack of sight. It is heartbreaking to think that he was found wandering around as blind stray, he is such a special boy who so deserves a very special forever family who can provide him with the love, safety and security he deserves and should’ve always known. Ray is blind. Whilst he copes very well with this, any potential rehomers should be prepared to cater to his needs and should be aware that, if he were to have any future issues with his eyes, these will likely be classed as a pre-existing condition and won’t be covered by pet insurance. The rehoming team will discuss Ray’s needs and his veterinary history in further detail with any successful applicants.
