Atena arrived at the our shelter following a property transfer, arriving with the dog she had shared her life with. Shortly after his transfer, she was left alone. Life in the kennel and the loss of her familiar surroundings deeply affected her, leading her to self-harm against the kennel bars. When she came to Pet Rescue, she was withdrawn, not seeking eye contact with people, showing no interest in her surroundings, only obsessively jumping on the fence bars. Today, walks, attention, and the chance to form positive relationships are helping her regain confidence and peace. She looks around, seeks contact, and allows herself to be drawn into the life around her. The biggest difference can be seen in her eyes. The dull, lost look of the early days has given way to a present, curious, and trusting expression.

Atena è arrivata in canile a seguito di una cessione di proprietà, insieme al cane con cui aveva sempre condiviso la vita. Poco tempo dopo lui è stato trasferito e lei è rimasta sola. La vita in box e la perdita dei suoi punti di riferimento l’hanno profondamente segnata arrivando ad autolesionarsi contro le sbarre del box. Quando è arrivata al Pet Rescue era assente, non cercava lo sguardo delle persone, non mostrava interesse per ciò che la circondava, solo ossessione di saltare sulle sbarre del recinto. Oggi le passeggiate, le attenzioni e la possibilità di vivere relazioni positive le stanno permettendo di recuperare fiducia e serenità. Si guarda intorno, cerca il contatto, si lascia coinvolgere dalla vita che scorre attorno a lei. La differenza più grande si legge nei suoi occhi. Lo sguardo spento e perso dei primi giorni ha lasciato spazio a un’espressione presente, curiosa e fiduciosa.
