Walking him still requires work, as he is an insecure dog and external sounds and stimuli are threatening to him, but he does go for walks. He lets himself be handled and put on the harness if he feels secure with you and if you encourage him a bit with your voice, he goes for a walk. He likes to sniff and usually follows his walking companion and leans heavily on them when he's scared, so it's essential he goes to a home with another dog that can provide the security he needs. Without a kennel companion, it's difficult to get him to interact with strangers and quite complex to get him to go for a walk, as he doubts too much. A sociable dog that always goes first is the best way to help Aveiro gain security. He still has a long way to go, but he's taking small steps and now asks for affection when we're with him. The four Punto dogs are called this way because they were abandoned in a dumpster, as if they were garbage or old junk. They made a hole in the fence enclosure, put the four inside, and sealed it with a plate so they couldn't escape. We don't know where they came from or what conditions they lived in. They are healthy and well-fed, showing no signs of physical abuse, but they lack socialization. Since they were in a municipality that has contracted our service for waste collection, we've taken them in at our animal shelter. They are quite scared, but in the few days they've been with us, they've started to approach for petting. AVEIRO is vaccinated and neutered. His Leishmania analysis is questionable according to general analyses; there's no suspicion of Ehrlichia. The new Leishmania analysis on November 15, 2024, is negative.

Le gusta olfatear y suele seguir a su compañero de paseo y apoyarse muchísimo cuando se asusta, por eso es imprescindible un hogar con otro perro que le aporte la seguridad que necesita. Sin un compañero de chenil, es difícil conseguir que interactúe con extraños y bastante complejo que salga de paseo, pues duda demasiado. Un perro sociable que vaya siempre por delante es la mejor forma de hacer que Aveiro gane seguridad. Todavía tiene mucho que avanzar pero va dando pequeños pasos y ya nos pide mimos cuando estamos con él. -------------------------------------- 16 dic. 2024, Los voluntarios nos comentan sobre Aveiro: Los cuatro Punto son bastante tímidos y está costando bastante trabajo acostumbrarles al ser humano, a las caricias y a la correa. Son perros que no parecen haber tenido nunca mucho contacto ni con el ser humano ni con el exterior. Cuando llegaron, Aveiro parecía el más miedoso, pero ahora esto es lejos de la realidad, Aveiro ha mejorado mucho desde que llegó, aunque todavía le queda un largo camino. A base de fijarse en su hermana Tonga, que es más sociable y cariñosa, poco a poco hemos conseguido que confíe en nosotras y, con salchichas y mucha paciencia, por fin se acerca a nosotras y se deja acariciar. ----------------------------------------------- Aveiro es curioso y tiene interés por acercarse allá donde se acerquen sus hermanos, lo que ha permitido que poco a poco se deje manipular y hasta poner un arnés. Actualmente lo que queda por conseguir es que pueda pasear con correa, pues cuando la lleva puesta todavía se bloquea. Además, el exterior les resulta amenazante a todos ellos, pues seguramente hayan permanecido aislados o encerrados sin socializar. Aveiro mejoraría mucho más rápido en un hogar tranquilo y con otro perrito al que pueda imitar. Lo ideal sería una familia comprensiva y con paciencia, dispuesta a dejarle avanzar a sus tiempos. ------------------------------------------------- A estos cuatro perros de apellido Punto, se llaman así porque precisamente en un punto limpio los abandonaron, como basura o trastos viejos. Abrieron un agujero en la malla del recinto, metieron a los cuatro y cerraron con una chapa para que no pudieran salir. No sabemos de dónde vinieron, ni en qué condiciones han vivido. Están sanos y bien alimentados, no tienen signos de maltrato físico, pero les falta socializar. Como fue en un municipio que tiene contratado con nosotros en servicio de recogida, los hemos acogido en nuestro albergue. Están bastante asustados, peo en los pocos días que llevan con nosotros, ya se acercan a pedir caricias. AVEIRO está vacunado y castrado.
