Beautiful Hazel has just turned 1 and has been with Battersea since February. We believe her to be a Labrador cross possible with a Staffie or Rottweiler, so a wonderful mixture of intelligence and loving! She came to Battersea as a stray but quickly found her way into the hearts of all the staff at Battersea and become a huge favourite. Hazel is super clever and enjoys using her brain for scent search games, toy play and learning new cues! Don’t let her active side fool you, Hazel also loves nothing more then leaning all her body weight into you for some affection! Since spending some time on foster, we have seen that Hazel will need support in learning everything that living in a home brings to her. When overwhelmed, Hazel can display some overstimulated behaviours such as jumping up, mouthing and being vocally demanding. She has an inquisitive nature and loves nothing more than to explore her new environment in ways that can be endearing. With the support of our behaviour team Hazel has come on leaps and bounds and learnt multiple alternative behaviours to support her settling. We have seen her grow and develop with all areas of her training, and she is ready to put these into practise in a new home. Hazel will need calm, relaxed and sympathetic new owners who will support her with a settling period and continue her ongoing training. Our rehoming and behaviour teams will demonstrate all the training that has been completed while at Brands Hatch and the further training needed in the home. To best support her in a new home, Hazel is looking for a calm household with not many comings and goings. She will need access to her own enclosed garden as at times she can find the bigger world too much, needing her own safe space to relax and play in. Hazel also really enjoys interacting with toys, tunnels and paddling pools in these spaces. Due to some ongoing medical conditions Hazel will need owners who understand the limits she will have with exercise, however at Battersea we have explored other mentally stimulating outlets for her which she loves due to being so playful and food motivated. Our clinic team will be able to go through this in more detail and explain how new owners can support her. If you have already completed our online rehoming form and would like to know more about Hazel, you can e-mail our rehoming team on to register your interest.
