At just nine months old, Sofia has already experienced more fear and uncertainty than any young dog should ever have to face. This beautiful little girl was one of three dogs being held by dog catchers, with only hours remaining before they were due to be put to sleep. Without someone stepping in to save them, their lives would have ended before they had really begun. On 15th October 2026, we received a desperate message accompanied by a secretly recorded video showing three frightened dogs being held in a room awaiting their fate. They had until midday the following day to be rescued, and each needed €45 to secure their release. We couldn't bear the thought of these three innocent lives being lost, and thankfully, all three were saved just in time. Sofia and her two companions were immediately taken to the vet for examinations. Thankfully, they were all found to be healthy, although they still needed treatment for fleas and parasites, followed by their vaccinations and the care necessary to give them a fresh start. But what makes Sofia's story particularly touching is the way she responded to being rescued. This sweet, affectionate little girl clung so tightly to her rescuers that it was almost as though she understood what had happened and wanted to thank them for saving her life. After everything she had been through, all she seemed to want was to be close to someone who would keep her safe.
