O Gato Filhote Pequeno Com Uma Grande Vontade de Viver A história de Akindi começou com um miado fraco e desesperado. Um amigo de um dos nossos voluntários ouviu o som, suave mas constante, e estava determinado a encontrar a fonte. O que descobriram foi um pequeno gato filhote — sozinho, perturbado e a lutar pela vida. Quando foi trazido para nós, pensámos que tinha apenas algumas semanas de idade por causa do seu tamanho. Mas após uma rápida análise da nossa equipa veterinária no local, descobrimos a verdade: Akindi tinha cerca de nove semanas, mas estava muito subnutrido, fraco e sofria de um estômago dolorosamente inchado cheio de parasitas. A sua condição era tão delicada que não tínhamos certeza se sobreviveria. Era tão pequeno que foi transferido para o quarto da Emma onde podia receber cuidados constantes, calor e reforço. Foi ali que formou um vínculo imediato com Iggy, filho de Emma e Edo. A natureza gentil e afectuosa paciente de Iggy mostrou a Akindi um tipo de amor e segurança que nunca tinha sentido antes e deu-lhe a força que precisava para continuar a lutar. Passados três meses, Akindi transformou-se. Agora é um gato forte, sociável e animado — ainda o mais pequeno do seu grupo, mas cheio de vida e confiança. Joga incessantemente com Iggy e os outros dois gatos, provando todos os dias até que ponto um pouco de amor, segurança e cuidado determinado pode chegar. Akindi poderia ter começado como o mais pequeno e frágil dos gatos que vimos, mas hoje é um alegre lembrete de resiliência e segundas oportunidades.

The Tiny Kitten With a Tremendous Will to Live Akindi’s story began with a faint, desperate meow. A friend of one of our volunteers kept hearing the sound, soft but persistent, and was determined to find the source. What they eventually discovered was a tiny, fragile kitten — alone, distressed, and fighting for his life. When he was brought to us, we assumed he must only be a few weeks old because of his size. But after a quick examination from our onsite veterinary team, we learned the truth: Akindi was actually around nine weeks old, but severely malnourished, weak, and suffering from a painfully swollen stomach filled with parasites. His condition was so delicate that we weren’t sure if he would survive. He was so little that he moved into Emma’s bedroom where he could receive constant care, warmth, and reassurance. It was there that he formed an instant bond with Iggy, Emma & Edo's son. Iggy’s gentle nature and patient affection showed Akindi a kind of love and safety he had never felt before and it gave him the strength he needed to keep fighting. Fast forward three months, and Akindi has transformed. He is now a strong, social, spirited young cat — still the smallest of his little group, but full of life and confidence. He plays endlessly with Iggy and their two other kitties, proving every day just how far a bit of love, safety, and determined care can go. Akindi may have started as the tiniest and most fragile kitten we’ve seen, but today he is a joyful reminder of resilience and second chances.
