Adotar Courtney

Courtney is a goofy and fun-loving Staffordshire Bull Terrier cross, who is based at our Old Windsor centre. She’s an intelligent, energetic and inquisitive dog who has so many endearing qualities, including a big twist of cheekiness. She has spent some time in a temporary foster home and has loved the home comforts. Her foster carers enjoyed her company, even when her snoring woke them up at night! She was housetrained and familiar with all the sights and sounds of a home. She is bouncy and playful around other dogs, and can sometimes be a bit too much for some dogs. She has training to help her work on calmer interactions and matching other dogs play styles. While she is working on her socialisation, we feel it is best for Courtney to be the only dog in the household but to continue making friends who match her energy and enable her to have positive interactions. Due to her excitable nature, Courtney is looking for her new home to have a private and secure garden so she can burn off her energy, continue her basic training and calm manners without any distractions. She will also benefit from regular exercise and mental enrichment to help her settle into her new environment. Courtney has enjoyed some day trips with us at Old Windsor, she loves the car and is keen to explore and, fun fact, she snorts when getting all the smells! Courtney loves to play with toys, though can get overexcited at times so her owners will need to help support her to keep calm when playing. She can also be seen in her kennel, laying on her bed, flinging her toys about. She is a real food lover and enjoys higher value treats to work with so new owners can use this to continue her ongoing training. She has been worried when meeting new people during her time with us but has shown to make friends quickly when given time to greet when she feels ready. Once she gets to know you, Courtney has shown to be an affectionate and bouncy girl who enjoys playing with handlers and having gentle fuss. She sometimes struggles to keep calm and this is an area that we have put a lot of training into to help Courtney. She is very clever and has picked this up quickly but she will need regular reminders when at home. She’s a bright girl and will try to push boundaries if she can, so owners who are calm, firm but fair and kind will be best for her. Courtney is looking for a home with multiple carers to best manage these behaviours. We feel that in a consistent home she’ll really flourish to show the very best of her character. Courtney will be a delightful bundle of excitement for new owners that want to undertake training.
