Drapka is an anxious dog who is gradually getting to know life outside the shelter. Her beginnings in her new environment were far from easy. Drapka quickly revealed herself as a dog who struggled to manage her emotions. She dealt with any situation she found unpleasant using her teeth and wouldn’t let anyone get close to her. It took the female dog quite some time to trust humans; during the first few months of working with her, we kept our sessions confined to the kennel area, and her very first outings beyond the kennel lasted mere moments—Drapka was utterly terrified by everything around her. Recently, however, she’s made tremendous progress: she now walks through the woods near the shelter without much trouble, and she’s even started suggesting longer walking routes on her own—routes that used to be a real challenge for her. She’s increasingly enjoying life. Drapka loves spending time in the exercise yard; in this safe space, she can occupy herself and explore her surroundings. Unexpected events or loud noises still cause her great stress and have a stimulating effect on her. During these moments, she has trouble calming down from her heightened emotions and starts coping in her own way—by running around in circles. Lately, such situations have become less frequent, but it’s important to remember that in a new environment and around new people, Drapka’s behavior could change. In critical situations, she might rush toward a passing person and bite them. That’s why it’s so crucial to gradually introduce her to the outside world and avoid putting pressure on her. Drapka is increasingly focused on people and more willing to cooperate with them, which allows us to address her fears and teach her new strategies for handling difficult situations. Drapka needs time to build trust in a new person. Anyone considering meeting Drapka should be prepared for several visits to the shelter. But it’s definitely worth it—Drapka is the most wonderful dog for her volunteers, loving physical contact and seeking support in tough times. It’s truly amazing to see how she overcomes one fear after another by the side of someone she knows and trusts unconditionally. We’re looking for a home for Drapka that meets the following criteria: – no small children – ready for ongoing collaboration with a behaviorist – located in a quiet neighborhood

Drapka jest psem lękowym, który stopniowo poznaje życie poza terenem schroniska. Jej początki w nowym miejscu nie należały do łatwych. Czerpie coraz większą przyjemność z życia. Drapka uwielbia przebywać na wybiegu, w bezpiecznym miejscu potrafi zająć się sobą, eksplorować otoczenie. Niespodziewane zdarzenia, głośne dźwięki wywołują u niej ogromny stres i działają na nią pobudzająco. W takich momentach ma problem z zejściem z wysokich emocji i zaczyna radzić sobie na swój sposób, poprzez bieganie i robienie kółek. Ostatnio, takie sytuacje zdarzają się coraz rzadziej, jednak trzeba mieć na uwadze, że w nowym miejscu i przy nowych osobach zachowanie Drapki może ulec zmianie.
