Geneva has come to us from a breeder to find her forever home and, like many of our ex-breeding dogs, is still learning that people can be kind. She has come a long way during her time at Many Tears, although she still finds human touch worrying and is not yet comfortable with being handled. She lives in a kennel where she can move freely between her kennel and the yard without needing to be picked up, allowing her to feel safe and secure in her surroundings. We recently tried to begin harness training with Geneva, but she wasn't quite ready as she still found being touched too frightening. However, she has now taken a lovely little step forward! With the colder weather arriving, Geneva has tolerated having a cosy sweater put on, kindly knitted and donated by one of our lovely volunteers to help keep our underweight dogs warm. Although she was still a little anxious, with encouragement from a furry friend, she allowed us to put it on. This is a huge achievement for Geneva and shows that, with time and reassurance, she is slowly beginning to learn that not all human interaction has to be scary. Geneva will need a calm and quiet adult home with adopters who have experience with scared ex-breeding dogs and understand that she will need plenty of time, patience and TLC to settle in. We would consider a home with calm and respectful teenagers aged 16+. She will also need at least one kind and confident resident dog to help show her the ropes and give her reassurance as she learns about home life. Geneva has never lived in a home before, so she will need patient adopters who can help her learn all about house training, wearing a harness and walking on a lead at her own pace. She has so much to learn, and her progress may be slow to begin with, but she deserves the chance to discover how wonderful life can be. Geneva is such a sweet little soul, and we hope her forever family is out there waiting for her. She has already taken some brave little steps forward, and with the right home, a confident canine friend and lots of kindness, we hope she will continue to grow in confidence and feel safe enough to let her lovely personality shine. This dog can be homed with a resident dog.
