Goose is a timid Lurcher with a sensitive soul. He is currently based as Battersea Old Windsor. Goose came into our care as a stray so we don’t have any history on him or know what his life may have been like before coming to Battersea Old Windsor. He can find the real world daunting but is slowly beginning to grow in confidence and trust the world around him and is starting to find that it’s not so scary. He is looking for patient and caring owners who can slowly introduce new experiences to him and allow Goose to come out of his shell at his own pace. Due to Goose’s worried nature, he will need his own, secure private garden that he can use as a safe space while getting used to his new environment. Goose lacks confidence around dogs but is starting to realise each dog he meets is a potential friend, but he can still have vocal reactions when seeing unknown dogs, mainly in close proximity or a sudden appearance of them. Goose has received a lot of training around other dogs since he arrived and has really made great progress, however his new owners must be committed to continuing his training in this area. He has been able to make friends successfully and then shows more playful behaviours, really gaining confidence from their presence which is a massive stride forwards from when he first arrived. He could potentially live with another confident, steady dog and may benefit from this to help build his confidence. When playing he has a typical Lurcher style, zooming around all legs! As Goose has shown to slowly warm up to his handlers, it has taken him some time to build bonds. We feel taking a slow approach and allowing Goose to socialise in his own time, and not put him in worrying situations, will be best to help continue making friends. As he is apprehensive about new people and lots of noise, he needs to live in a home without young children. Goose will make a rewarding companion with the help of dedicated and committed owners who can give him the time and gentle encouragement needed to allow his personality to flourish.
