An elderly woman lives in the countryside in a rustic house in the middle of a field, surrounded by many dogs. The house is often visited by guests, and sometimes her grandmother agrees to take some dogs away, but often the attempts are fruitless and the supply of dogs for the kennels runs out. Her grandmother might also give up on dog walking instead of taking them to the shelter kennel. The dogs are timid and only trust her grandmother, so settling them is difficult without the owner's help. This time, however, her grandmother apparently understood that the dogs were too much and gave up 16 of them to the shelter kennel, 11 of which were puppies. I was one of the lucky ones and made it to Mazas Draugs' shelter kennel. My friends are also here, and together we are ready now to find our own home. I have a limp and it would be good if at home there was a friend waiting for me to be there for me when I need support with challenging things.

Vanha nainen asuu maaseudulla ränsistyneessä talossa lian ja kaaoksen keskellä lukuisten koirien kanssa. Aina silloin tällöin talolla vieraillaan ja joskus mummo suostuu antamaan koiria pois, mutta usein yritykset ovat tuloksettomia ja avuntarjoukset kaikuvat kuuroille korville. Mummo saattaa myös hukuttaa koiranpentuja sen sijaan, että luovuttaisi ne tarhalle. Koirat ovat villiintyneitä ja tottelevat vain mummoa, joten kiinniottaminen on hankalaa ilman omistajan apua. Tällä kertaa mummo kuitenkin ehkä itsekin ymmärsi koiria olevan liikaa ja luovutti 16 niistä tarhalle, joista 11 oli pentuja. Minä olin yksi onnekkaista ja pääsin turvaan Mazas Draugasin tarhalle. Ystäväni ovat myös täällä, ja yhdessä olemme valmiit nyt etsimään omia kotejamme. Jaan häkkini reippaan nartun kanssa ja olisikin hyvä, jos kotona olisi minulle kaveri odottamassa, että saisin tarvittaessa otettua tukea minua jännittävien asioiden kohtaamiseen.
