Esta gata doce não permite que o seu estado impeça-a de viver a melhor vida. Esta amiga felina encantadora é uma das seis residentes actuais do hospital para gatos. Nesta grande área, alojamos os nossos gatos que testaram positivos para Leucemia. Infelizmente, têm de ser mantidos separados dos outros gatos, pois esta doença é muito contagiosa para outros gatos. Os nossos voluntários entram na área para dar a estes gatos toda a atenção que merecem todos os dias. A Leucemia (uma infecção pelo vírus da leucemia felina, FeLV) é infelizmente incurável. Pode causar diversos distúrbios sanguíneos e pode levar à deficiência imunológica, tornando um gato suscetível a infeções secundárias. Durante as fases iniciais da infecção, é comum que os gatos não mostrem quaisquer sinais da doença, no entanto, após meses ou mesmo anos, a saúde de um gato infetado pode deteriorar-se rapidamente. Felizmente, a nossa doce Karen ainda está a fazer muito bem no momento, a aproveitar a vida e os carinhos dos nossos voluntários no nosso santuário. This sweet cat's condition isn't stopping her from living her best life This lovely feline friend is one of the six current cat hospital inhabitants. In this big enclosure, we house our cats that have been tested positive for Leukaemia. Unfortunately they have to be kept separate from our other cats, because this disease is very contagious to other cats. Our volunteers, however, go into the enclosure to give these cats all the attention they deserve everyday. Leukaemia (an infection with the feline leukaemia virus, FeLV) is unfortunately incurable. It can cause various blood disorders and can lead to immune deficiency which makes a cat susceptible to secondary infections. During the early stages of infection, it is common for cats to show no signs of disease at all, however, after months or even years, an infected cat’s health can deteriorate quickly. Luckily, our sweet Karen is still doing really good at the moment, enjoying life and cuddles with our volunteers at our sanctuary.
