Kiyomi was rescued when she came to ask for help and food on a balcony of an urban residence. She was very shy and would not let anyone approach her, so it was necessary to catch her with appropriate equipment in order to care for her, spay her, and provide her with shelter. It then took time for Kiyomi to get used to living with humans, as she had only known the life of a stray cat and the survival instinct that made her fear humans, whom she perceived as potential threats. Today, Kiyomi has come a long way! She is comfortable in her environment and curious! She likes to watch what we are doing, and if we do not try to touch or approach her, she easily settles beside us within a meter. Kiyomi is quite at ease wandering around and playing enthusiastically with balls; she even carries her toys all over the house. Sometimes she purrs when we talk to her, but she mainly purrs with the other cat friends. Indeed, she continues to love living with other cats: she purrs, rolls on her back in front of them... it's clear that this is important for her balance. The journey is not over, we believe there will be more big steps towards humans! A cat is obviously not required to like being petted or wanting to be touched, but it is possible that a strong relationship built on respecting her consent could lead her to enjoy contact with her humans and ask for pets. It is also possible that this may not happen, and we will have to accept it if that is the case. Considering her progress, we believe she can now be adopted and continue her journey with her humans for life. We are therefore looking for a patient and committed family who will enjoy gaining small pieces of trust and strengthening the relationship with Kiyomi every day: through play, moments of sharing without contact at first, and then probably with more contact later, when she is ready. It is imperative that the home has no outdoor access (and a secure balcony if there is a balcony) with one or more other cats already present. Kiyomi a été sauvée alors qu’elle venait demander de l’aide et de la nourriture sur un balcon d’une résidence en ville. Elle était très craintive et ne se laissait pas approcher, il a donc fallu l’attraper avec du matériel adapté pour pouvoir la soigner, la stériliser, et la mettre à l’abri. Il a ensuite fallu du temps à Kiyomi pour s’habituer à la cohabitation avec les humain·es, car elle n’avait connu que la vie de chat errant et l’instinct de survie qui la poussait à avoir peur des humain·es car elle les percevait comme un danger potentiel. Aujourd’hui, Kiyomi a quand même fait beaucoup de chemin ! Elle est à l’aise dans l’environnement et curieuse ! Elle aime observer ce qu’on est en train de faire et, si on ne cherche pas à la toucher ou à l'approcher, elle s'installe facilement à côté de nous à moins d'un mètre. Kiyomi est assez à l’aise pour se balader partout et jouer à fond les ballons, elle balade d’ailleurs ses jouets partout dans la maison. Elle roucoule parfois quand on lui parle mais elle roucoule surtout avec les autres copains chats. En effet, elle continue d’adorer la cohabitation avec les autres chats : elle roucoule, se roule devant eux…on voit que c’est important pour son équilibre. Le chemin n’est pas fini, nous pensons qu’il y aura d’autres grands pas vers les humain·es ! Un chat n’est évidemment pas dans l’obligation d’aimer les caresses et de vouloir être touché, mais il est possible qu’une relation solide et bâtie sur le respect de son consentement mène à ce qu’elle apprécie le contact avec ses humain·es et demande des caresses. C’est aussi possible que ça n’arrive pas, et il faudra l’accepter si c’est le cas. Au vu de ses progrès, nous estimons qu’elle peut aujourd’hui être adoptée et poursuivre son chemin avec ses humain·es pour la vie. Nous recherchons donc une famille patiente et investie qui aura plaisir à gagner des petits bouts de confiance et à renforcer la relation avec Kiyomi au quotidien : par le jeu, les moments de partage sans contact au début, puis sûrement avec contact plus tard, quand elle sera prête. Il faudra impérativement un foyer sans accès extérieur (et avec balcon sécurisé s’il y a un balcon) avec un ou plusieurs autres chats déjà présents.
