Adotar Laika
Akita · Fêmea · Jovem · 2 anos
Personality:Laika is our resident fluffy bear! This girl is a typical Akita who loves her people but can be aloof and/or over the top with new people but once she’s had a chance to get to know you she’s just a big ball of fun. She enjoys her walks and likes to play and will make the right person the very best friend. Laika has made lots of friends since arriving at the Ark but she is still building confidence around handling of certain areas, like her feet. She needs an Akita confident and experienced home who are willing to follow our guidance on training and management. Behaviour:Laika enjoys her off lead time in a secure space to have her zoomies with a toy and if there’s an opportunity to dig she may dive into that! She can struggle around handling at the vets so has been fully muzzle trained for her vet visits whilst at the Ark. She also wears her muzzle out on walks as she has an extremely high prey drive and can be reactive with dogs, though she is doing very well learning to be calm on lead. Laika will need adopters with prior experience/ knowledge of Akita’s who is willing to learn Laika’s quirky personality! Housing:Cannot be rehomed to the Gosport area. Laika will need access to a private and secure garden with 6ft fencing, no visiting cats and preferably no dogs in adjacent gardens. Children/pets:Laika will need an adult only home with no visiting children and due to her prey drive and dog reactivity she will need to be the only pet in the home. Vet history:Laika is up to date with her flea, worming and vaccinations. She will need to return to site at a later date to be spayed. Laika does have a grade 1 Patellar Luxation, she has no issues with her movement or gait and so requires no medical interference at present, though potential adopters should be aware this may not be covered by insurance. Adoption fee:The adoption fee is £220. If you would like to make an additional donation over and above the adoption fee, this would be hugely appreciated.
