Maya was born in 1994 and her fate is certainly not unique: she was once purchased by a family as a pony for their child. When the daughter grew up and began an apprenticeship, Maya was suddenly unnecessary. The family, who once brought her to them from the horse market in Hamm, at least made an effort to find Maya a good home. This proved difficult, because who wants an old, sick Shetland pony that costs money every month and provides no benefit? So Maya came to us in 2014 at the age of 20. By the way: Many ponies are not so lucky. Their last path then leads to the slaughterhouse. Maya is very affectionate and gets daily pets from us. She can also be a little diva. For example, when we come to the sand court, she always pushes herself to the forefront and does not let the other two ponies Moritz and Mucki near her or us. She wants us and all the pets for herself alone. Even when it comes to food, Maya knows no friends and can be quite picky. Apart from these moments, she is very attached to Mucki and is usually found near the other ponies. Maya is happy about great people who want to support her life at Charly's Ranch with a sponsorship.

Maya wurde 1994 geboren und Mayas Schicksal ist ganz sicher kein Einzelfall: Sie wurde einst von einer Familie als Pony fürs Kind angeschafft. Als die Tochter erwachsen wurde und eine Ausbildung begann, war Maya plötzlich überflüssig. Die Familie, die sie einst vom Pferdemarkt in Hamm zu sich holte, bemühte sich aber zumindest darum, Maya in ein gutes Zuhause zu vermitteln. Das gestaltete sich schwierig, denn wer möchte schon ein altes, krankes Shetlandpony, das monatlich nur Geld kostet und von dem man keinen Nutzen hat? So kam Maya 2014 im Alter von 20 Jahren zu uns. Übrigens: Viele Ponys haben nicht so viel Glück. Sie führt der letzte Weg dann zum Schlachter. Maya ist sehr verschmust und holt sich tägliche Streicheleinheiten bei uns ab. Sie kann aber auch eine kleine Diva sein. Wenn wir beispielsweise auf den Sandplatz kommen, drängelt sie sich immer in den Vordergrund und lässt die anderen beiden Ponys Moritz und Mucki nicht in ihre bzw. unsere Nähe. Sie möchte uns und alle Streicheleinheiten für sich allein haben. Auch wenn es ums Essen geht, kennt Maya keine Freunde und kann ganz schön herumzicken. Von diesen Momenten abgesehen, hängt sie sehr an Mucki und ist meist in der Nähe der anderen Ponys zu finden. Maya freut sich über tolle Menschen, die ihr Leben auf Charly's Ranch mit einer Patenschaft unterstützen möchten.
