Adotar Peggy

Peggy – YORKSHIRE Adoption fee £350 5 years old Female mini, chocolate dapple smooth Not Neutered Peggy is an exceptionally pretty young dachshund with a huge personality and an equally huge capacity for love. She is now looking for a new chapter in life where she can enjoy the calm, structured, and understanding home environment that will allow her to truly flourish. Beneath her feisty little exterior is an incredibly affectionate, loyal, and emotionally sensitive dog who forms strong bonds with her people and thrives on companionship, routine, and reassurance. Once Peggy feels safe and settled with someone, she becomes deeply devoted and wonderfully loving. She absolutely adores physical affection and will happily smother her chosen people with kisses, cuddles, and constant companionship. She enjoys curling up under blankets, snoozing on laps, and being close to her humans whenever possible. At the same time, she is still a young dachshund with plenty of playful energy and enthusiasm for life. She enjoys interactive play, enrichment, and being involved in the day-to-day activities around her. Unfortunately, Peggy’s current home environment has become increasingly overwhelming for her, particularly due to the dynamics of living alongside multiple other dogs. During hormonal periods, especially when she comes into season, Peggy can be more anxious, and less tolerant of the other dogs around her. Peggy is a sensitive little dog who struggles when she feels overstimulated or unable to cope within a busy multi-dog environment. Because of this, Peggy is currently not receiving the level of calm attention, stimulation, and emotional balance that she would benefit from. Peggy would ideally be suited as the only dog in the household, where she can enjoy individual attention and a calmer atmosphere. In many ways, Peggy displays very typical dachshund traits. When walked alone on lead she can initially appear reserved and somewhat unsure of unfamiliar dogs or environments. However, when accompanied by her familiar “pack,” she becomes much more vocal and confident, often barking at other dogs as part of that group dynamic. This behaviour is not outside of what would be expected for the breed, but any new owner should be prepared to continue working on confidence building, calm exposure, and positive reinforcement training. Peggy is fully house trained within the home, she is also crate trained and settles well when required. In addition, she travels very well in the car. Peggy would also be best suited to a home with older, calm, and dog-savvy children, or an adult-only household. We are also looking for a home where she is not regularly left for extended periods of time, as she can become vocal if left alone for too long, although she should be able to cope with a couple of hours, once settled. Overall, Peggy is a wonderfully affectionate, funny, and endearing little dog who simply needs a more compatible environment in order to feel secure and balanced. In the right home, with patient and understanding owners, who appreciate the quirks and sensitivities of the dachshund breed, Peggy has the potential to become an exceptionally devoted and rewarding companion. She has so much love to give and deserves a home where she can feel safe, understood, and truly cherished. Requirements for Peggy: No children No other dogs No cats Someone who is around for most of the day If you think you can offer Peggy her forever home, please get in touch with Lisa at
