Pickle is currently being rehomed under our Homestay scheme. Under this scheme, the dog stays with their current owner until the point of adoption, when ownership transfers briefly to Dogs Trust and then to the new adopters. The benefits of Homestay for a dog are that it minimises disruption and prevents the dog having to come into kennels, however there is the potential the owner may pull out of the scheme prior to adoption. We understand the upset this may cause to potential adopters, and we work closely with owners to minimise the likelihood of this. However, it remains a possibility, and should this occur, Dogs Trust will prioritise finding adopters an alternative suitable dog. Pickle is a 1-year-old Dachshund who enjoys cuddles, burrowing under blankets, and playing with soft toys (especially if he can pull them apart!). Pickle would thrive in a home with children aged 10+ and owners who are around for most of the day to give him the companionship he loves. Pickle can be vocal when out and about, so he would benefit from quieter walking areas and continued support building his confidence around other dogs. He is mostly housetrained but may need some help settling into a new routine. A garden would be a bonus for Pickle to explore, but it is not essential.
