Two years where the world for him consisted only of bars. Two years where his life simply continued on without any change for him. The tragic part: Snape was overlooked for all these years. So this big, sensitive male dog spent almost half of his life in the kennel without a real chance at a home. Snape is about 3.5 years old, roughly 65 cm tall, and weighs around 35 kg. An impressive dog with a calm gaze – and a soul that has learned to retreat rather than approach people. His first year was spent on the streets as part of a small dog gang. There, he knew freedom but also the constant danger of hunger, cold, and the dogcatchers. When these attempts to catch the dogs with tranquilizing darts increased, a kind Romanian intervened and brought him to our private shelter. Snape has been in safety ever since – yet while life continues outside, he remains behind. Today, Snape mostly sits in his hut. It has become his safe place – the only spot that gives him comfort. From there, he cautiously observes his surroundings. He clings to this hut because it means safety to him in a world he barely knows. Snape is not a difficult dog. He is a dog who is afraid and one that never learned that people can also mean safety. He keeps his distance from strangers and is currently not ready to be touched. However, with familiar people, he shows that closeness is possible – slowly, cautiously, and in small steps. What Snape needs are people with patience, empathy, and understanding. People who don’t demand anything from him but give him time. People who accept that trust must grow and cannot be forced. Space, calm, and a safe place could be the beginning of a completely new life for Snape. With other dogs, Snape is very social. As a street dog, he lived in a pack and knows how to live with fellow animals. A sovereign only dog could help him orient himself and show him that life outside the shelter is not threatening – but that is not a must. Snape spent half his life behind bars. Yet, he remains a calm, peaceful dog who never gave up, even though no one has given him a real chance to show who he could be. Perhaps somewhere, there is exactly the person who sees beyond the scared dog and recognizes the loyal companion within. Snape is neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed, and flea-treated. Zwei Jahre, in denen die Welt für ihn nur aus Gitterstäben bestand. Zwei Jahre, in denen sein Leben einfach weiterlief – ohne dass sich für ihn etwas veränderte. Das Tragische daran: Snape wurde all diese Zeit übersehen. So hat dieser große, sensible Rüde fast die Hälfte seines bisherigen Lebens im Zwinger verbracht, ohne echte Chance auf ein Zuhause. Snape ist etwa 3,5 Jahre alt, rund 65 cm groß und wiegt etwa 35 kg. Ein beeindruckender Hund mit einem ruhigen Blick – und einer Seele, die gelernt hat, sich lieber zurückzuziehen, als auf Menschen zuzugehen. Sein erstes Lebensjahr verbrachte Snape auf der Straße als Teil einer kleinen Hundegang. Dort kannte er Freiheit, aber auch die ständige Gefahr durch Hunger, Kälte und die Dogcatcher. Als diese vermehrt versuchten, die Hunde dort mit Betäubungspfeilen zu erwischen, griff ein tierlieber Rumäne ein und brachte ihn in unser privates Shelter. Snape ist seitdem in Sicherheit – doch während draußen das Leben weitergeht, bleibt er zurück. Heute sitzt Snape meist in seiner Hütte. Sie ist zu seinem sicheren Ort geworden – zu dem einzigen Platz, der ihm Halt gibt. Von dort aus beobachtet er vorsichtig seine Umgebung. Er klebt förmlich an dieser Hütte, weil sie für ihn Sicherheit bedeutet in einer Welt, die er kaum kennt. Snape ist kein schwieriger Hund. Er ist ein Hund, der Angst hat und der nie gelernt hat, dass Menschen auch Sicherheit bedeuten können. Fremden gegenüber bleibt er auf Abstand und lässt sich derzeit noch nicht anfassen. Bei bekannten Menschen zeigt er jedoch, dass Nähe möglich ist – langsam, vorsichtig und in kleinen Schritten. Was Snape braucht, sind Menschen mit Geduld, Empathie und Verständnis. Menschen, die nichts von ihm verlangen, sondern ihm Zeit geben. Menschen, die akzeptieren, dass Vertrauen wachsen muss und nicht erzwungen werden kann. Raum, Ruhe und ein sicherer Ort könnten für Snape der Anfang eines völlig neuen Lebens sein. Mit anderen Hunden ist Snape sehr sozial. Schon als Straßenhund lebte er im Rudel und kennt das Zusammenleben mit Artgenossen gut. Ein souveräner Ersthund könnte ihm helfen, sich zu orientieren und ihm zeigen, dass das Leben außerhalb des Shelters nicht bedrohlich ist – ist aber kein Muss. Snape hat sein halbes Leben hinter Gittern verbracht. Und doch ist er ein ruhiger, friedlicher Hund geblieben. Einer, der nie aufgegeben hat, auch wenn ihm bisher niemand wirklich die Chance gegeben hat, zu zeigen, wer er sein könnte. Vielleicht wartet irgendwo genau der Mensch, der in ihm nicht nur den ängstlichen Hund sieht – sondern den treuen Begleiter, der in ihm steckt. Snape ist kastriert, gechipt, geimpft, entwurmt und entfloht. Er besitzt einen EU-Heimtierausweis und kann nach positiver Vorkontrolle gegen eine Schutzgebühr in sein Zuhause reisen.
