The child must therefore learn to respect the cat's life, such as not disturbing it while it eats or sleeps. Not shouting at the cat just because it amuses him, or hitting it whenever he feels like. Moreover, it will also be necessary to teach the child how to stroke the cat or how to play with it. For adults, these are harmless gestures, but for a child, it is quite different. He will not know how to handle it and risks hurting himself, as the kitten not accustomed to handling can be aggressive. The cohabitation of the cat and the child When it is the cat that is on the scene first and a new baby appears, a small adaptation session will also be necessary. The newborn, who knows nothing yet, must therefore get used to the presence of the child in the house. Just after the child arrives home from the maternity ward, it is important to introduce the cat and the child. Place the child in a place accessible to the cat and let it come to observe the small one; this is a good idea, all the while continuing to watch them. One never knows how a cat will react, so it is better to be careful. The greatest fear of cats at these times is being left out in favor of the child. Each owner must therefore show the cat that this is not going to happen, for example by taking care of the cat in the presence of the child and trying as best as possible not to change the small habits. If you do not want the cat to enter the child's room or other rooms related to this arrival, it is important to get the cat used to this well before the child's arrival. Un chat et un enfant dans la même famille, c’est un cas de figure bien plus courant que l’on ne pourrait le penser. En effet, faire cohabiter un enfant et un chat est tout à fait possible. Les deux parties pourraient même nouer des relations très fortes au fil du temps. Mais voilà, les premiers moments sont souvent assez difficiles car si l’enfant est le premier sur les lieux, accepter un animal pourrait lui être pénible, surtout quand il est question de manipulation. Dans le cas contraire, si c’est le chat qui est arrivé le premier, il lui sera peut-être très dur d’accepter un nouveau membre de la famille, même si pour nous, c’est une chose naturelle. La cohabitation de l’enfant au chat Dans ce premier cas de figure, c’est l’enfant qui arrive sur les lieux le premier. Généralement, les enfants adorent les animaux , sur ce point, il ne sera pas difficile pour l’enfant de s’attacher au chat . Cependant, il ne saura pas toujours comment exprimer cette affection pour ce petit animal ce qui fait parfois rater la cohabitation chat enfant . Ainsi, il sera indispensable d’ éduquer l’enfant à respecter le chat en premier lieu. Il faut lui faire comprendre que le chat n’est pas un jouet dont il peut user comme il souhaite mais un être vivant qui mérite qu’on le respecte. L’enfant devra ainsi apprendre à respecter la vie du chat comme par exemple, ne pas le déranger quand il mange ou bien quand il dort. Ne pas crier sur le chat juste parce que cela lui fait plaisir ou encore le taper quand ça lui chante. En outre, il faudra également apprendre à l’enfant comment caresser le chat ou bien comment jouer avec lui. Pour les adultes, ce sont des gestes anodins, mais pour un enfant c’est tout autre chose. Il ne saura pas comment s’y prendre et risque donc de se blesser, le chaton non habitué à des manipulations pouvant être agressif. La cohabitation du chat à l’enfant Quand c’est le chat qui est sur les lieux le premier et qu’un nouveau né pointe le bout de son nez, une petite séance d’adaptation sera également nécessaire. Le nourrisson ne connaissant rien encore, c’est le chat qui devra donc s’habituer à sa présence dans la maison. Juste après l’arrivée de l’enfant dans la maison à la sortie de la maternité, il est important de faire les présentations entre le chat et l’enfant . Poser l’enfant à un endroit accessible pour le chat et le laisser venir pour observer le petit est une bonne idée, tout cela sans arrêter de les surveiller. On ne sait jamais comment un chat va réagir donc il vaut mieux rester prudent. La plus grande angoisse des chats dans ces moments et d’être laissé pour compte au profit de l’enfant. Chaque propriétaire devra ainsi lui démontrer que ce n’est pas ce qui va se passer, en s’occupant du chat en présence de l’enfant par exemple et en essayant au mieux de ne pas changer les petites habitudes. Si vous ne souhaitez pas que le chat entre dans la chambre de l’enfant ou dans d’autres pièces liées à cette venue ; il est important d’y habituer le chat bien avant la venue de l’enfant.
