Există momente când încercăm să găsim un nume pentru un câine și se pare că toată inspirația noastră a dispărut. Apoi există alte momente când circumstanțele ne conduc aproape automat la alegerea potrivită. Acesta a fost cazul cu câinii aduși din shelterul municipal din Krestena. Majoritatea aveau ceva de câine de pază berbec, în timp ce restul erau de tip vânătoare. Nu aveau rase recunoscibile, doar câteva trăsături de bază. Tipurile de câini pe care le vezi peste tot în țărăria greacă, tipurile care nu te atrag imediat. Până când petreci un pic mai mult timp cu ei și apoi înțelegi. Așa că aproape toți au primit nume tradiționale grecești, genul de nume pe care nu le auzi prea des în capitală. Numere care se dădeau copiilor și fetelor în sat. Așa că „Foteini” a devenit Fofo, micuța noastră Fofo de la shelter. Fofo plină de blăniță, cu un blană groasă și moale și ochi inocenți. Fofo care balăngănează coada și sare asupra noastră când ne vede venind cu lanița în mână. Micuța Fofo, care este puțin timidă și puțin râvnitoare. În momentul în care crezi că e resemnată, se întoarce brusc pe spate pentru o frecare la burtă și te invită să te așezi alături de ea pe iarbă pentru a-ți petrece împreună primăvara cu soarele. Cea Fofo, care vrea mai mult decât orice o familie care s-o iubească și să vadă cât de specială este cu adevărat. Fofo este o femeie tânără adultă care se descurcă bine atât cu ceilalți câini, cât și cu oamenii. Îi place afecțiunea și plimbările, iar ea te privește cu devotament și blândețe pe care doar câinii știu să le arate.

There are times when we try to find a name for a dog and it feels as if all our inspiration has vanished. And then there are other times when the circumstances almost automatically lead us to the right choice. That is what happened with the dogs we brought from the municipal shelter in Krestena. Most of them had something of a sheepdog-guardian in them, while the rest were hunting types. No recognizable breeds, just a few basic traits. The kind of dogs you see all over the Greek countryside, the kind that do not necessarily catch your eye at first glance. Until you spend a little more time with them and then you understand. So almost all of them were given traditional Greek names, the sort you do not often hear in the capital. Names that used to be given to boys and girls in the village. That is how “Foteini” became Fofo, our little Fofo at the shelter. Fluffy Fofo, with her thick, soft coat and her innocent eyes. Fofo who wags her tail and jumps up on us when she sees us approaching with the leash in our hands. Little Fofo, who is a bit shy and a bit mischievous. Just when you think she is hesitant, she suddenly flips onto her back for a belly rub and invites you to sit with her on the grass and enjoy the spring sunshine together. Our Fofo, who wants nothing more than a family to love her and to see how special she truly is. Fofo is a young adult girl who gets along well with dogs and people alike. She enjoys affection and walks, and she looks into your eyes with the devotion and tenderness that only dogs know how to show.
