Rupert este un câine mare, labrador auriu, cu vârsta de aproximativ opt ani. Rupert a ajuns în curând în îngrijirea noastră din adăpostul public Botoșani din România. A stat acolo pentru o perioadă de timp alături de cei trei fii săi adulți care tot acolo sunt. Rupert este un bătrân capricios care probabil a dus o viață destul de tranzitorie înainte de adăpost, obișnuit să meargă cum și unde dorește. A găsit antrenamentul la șold o povară și a acceptat doar acum (în mare parte) că trebuie să meargă unde îl conduc oamenii. Totuși, el face doar pășuni scurte în prezent, deoarece atunci când decide că e obosit și a venit timpul să se culce nu există prea multe lucruri care să-l poată convinge altfel. La sosirea în casa de îngrijire din Marea Britanie, el a petrecut prima jumătate de zi testând toate limitele pentru a vedea dacă există o cale de ieșire, iar atunci când este plasat în situații noi, această obișnuință o repetă. Doar atunci când s-a convins singur că nu este un câine super și nu poate să sară peste garduri de cinci picioare cu oasele sale în vârstă va da un mare sughiț și se va așeza într-un pattern de a dormi aproape întreaga zi. El este satisfăcut cu situația lui, dar trebuie să vadă mai întâi dacă există ceva mai bun de cealaltă parte a gardului. Nu este un proces care durează prea mult, dar pare a fi un ritual care poate fi așteptat atunci când este mutat. Rupert trăiește fericit cu alte câini, dar este destul de indiferent față de ei. Ar fi la fel de fericit ca singurul câine și a trăit fericit alături de pisică și chiar împarte gustările cu ea. În ciuda aparenței unui labrador blând și obișnuit, Rupert nu este în prezent interesat de atenție sau apreciază-o, deși o va permite și nu pare stresat sau speriat de ea. Cred că dacă a trăit până acum fără iubirea și bunătatea oamenilor, conceptul unui îmbrățișare încă îi rămâne un enigma. Cu siguranță nu va sta devoted pe picioarele tale sau îți va aduce pălăriile aproape niciodată, dar cu timpul și cu suficiente recompense sub formă de gustări, cine știe? Rupert ar dori un mediu de familie adult fără prea multă activitate pentru anii de pensie. Rupert a fost îngrijit de Norwich Norfolk. Dacă sunteți interesat, trimiteți un mesaj sau sunați între orele 9:00 – 17:00 de luni până vineri sau 9:00 – 16:00 sâmbătă. Tarife pentru adoptare De la 1 decembrie 2025, pentru pui deja sterilizați și toți câinii adulți: £430. Pui nu sterilizați pe contracte de sterilizare: £530 (veți primi un ramburs de £100 după ce ne trimiteți dovada sterilizării). Câini bătrâni (peste 10 ani): £150–£250 (în funcție de vârstă și nevoi individuale). Politica de adoptare Atunci când adopți un câine de la Safe Rescue, trebuie obligatoriu să folosești un șold. Acesta va menține câinele tău în siguranță: noul tău câine va fi nervos și nu-ți va încredința, iar tu nu vei ști ce situații ar putea afecta câinele tău. Dacă câinele tău intră în panik, atunci șoldul este singura modalitate de a preveni scaparea câinelui (multe câini pot scăpa dintr-un colier și/sau harnic). Va dura cel puțin 3-6 luni pentru ca câinele tău să se adapteze și pentru ca tu să-l cunoști complet (mai mult pentru câinii nervoși). Șoldul trebuie întotdeauna folosit în această perioadă de adaptare. Chiar și după ce câinele tău s-a adaptat, este mai sigur să folosești șoldul în situațiile în care câinele tău ar putea avea frică (de ex. vizite la locuri noi, în jurul oamenilor necunoscuți, la medicul veterinar), și în situații unde ar putea apărea declanșatori neprevăzuți (de ex. în apropierea zilei de focuri de artificii). Câinii nervoși pot purta mereu șoldul ca măsură suplimentară de siguranță. Șoldul este un dispozitiv de siguranță și nu trebuie niciodată folosit ca instrument de antrenament. Folosirea șoldului pentru aplicarea presiunii asupra gâtului câinelui este dăunătoare. Dacă câinele tău trage în șold, atunci îți vom oferi sfaturi privind metodele de antrenament care evită rănirea. Odată ce câinele tău s-a adaptat, poți considera să folosești un harnic (împreună cu șoldul) dacă câinele tău este confortabil la manipulare atunci când este pus. Majoritatea harnicilor nu sunt imposibil de scăpat, dar harnicele cu bandă spatele coastei (ex. Ruffwear Webmaster sau Perfect Fit Harnesses) sunt mai sigure. Lanturi retracibile/extendabile nu trebuie folosite niciodată pe câinii nostri. Câinii adoptați trebuie aduși de la adăpost și transportați direct acasă într-o cutie. Gardurile și ușile trebuie să aibă minim 5 picioare și să fie sigure. Toți câinii sunt vaccinați, microchiplinați și sterilizați (dacă nu sunt prea tineri pentru a fi sterilizați). Rupert is a large golden labrador aged around eight years old. Rupert has come into our care recently from the Botosani public shelter in Romania. He had been in there for some time along with his three adult sons who are still there. Rupert is a determined old goat who has probably led a pretty transient life prior to the shelter, used to going as and where he pleases. He found lead training rather a trial and has only now (mostly) accepted that he has to go where the humans direct now. However he is only going on short walks currently because when he decides he is tired and it’s time to lie down there’s not an awful lot that can be done to persuade him otherwise . On arrival in his UK foster home he spent the first half day just testing all boundaries to see if there was a way out, when placed in new situations this is a habit that he repeats. Only when he has proven to himself that he is not super dog and cannot jump five foot fences with his aging bones will he give a big sigh and settle into a pattern of pretty much snoozing most of the day. He is content with his lot but has to just see first if there’s better on the other side of that fence. It’s not a process that lasts long but seems to be a ritual that can be expected when he’s moved. Rupert is living happily with other dogs but is quite oblivious to them. He’d be just as happy as the only dog and has been cohabiting happily with the cat and even shares his treats with him. Despite giving the appearance of a soppy, docile old lab Rupert is not currently approaching for fuss or appreciative of it, although he will allow it and seems neither distressed or scared by it. I guess if he’s lived this far in his life without the love and kindness of humans the concept of a cuddle is still an enigma to him. He certainly won’t be lying devotedly by your feet or bringing you your slippers anytime soon, but in time and with enough treat bribery who knows?!? Rupert would like an adult family environment without too much activity for his retirement years. Rupert fostered Norwich Norfolk. Un-neutered puppies on spay/neuter contracts: £530 (You will receive a £100 rebate once you send us proof of neutering). Senior dogs (10+ years): £150–£250 (depending on age and individual needs). Adoption Policy When you adopt a Safe Rescue dog, you MUST use a slip lead. This will keep your dog safe: your new dog will be nervous and will not trust you, and you will not know which situations might upset your dog. If your dog panics, then a slip lead is the only way to prevent your dog from escaping (many dogs can escape from a collar and/or harness). It will take AT LEAST 3-6 months for your dog to settle-in and for you to know your dog fully (longer for nervous dogs). The slip lead must ALWAYS be used during this settling-in period. Even after your dog is settled, it is safest to use the slip lead in situations where your dog may become scared (e.g. visiting new places, around unfamiliar people, at the vet), and it situations where unexpected triggers might happen (e.g. around bonfire night). Nervous dogs may always need to wear a slip-lead as a back-up safety measure. The slip lead is a safety device and must NEVER be used as a training tool. Using the lead to apply pressure to the dog’s neck is damaging. If your dog pulls on the lead, then we can advise you on training methods that avoid harm. Once your dog is settled, you may want to consider using a harness (together with the slip lead) if your dog is comfortable with being handled when it is fitted. Most harnesses are not escape-proof, but harnesses with a strap behind the ribcage (e.g. Ruffwear Webmaster or Perfect Fit Harnesses) are safer. Retractable / extendable leads must never be used on our dogs. Adopted dogs must be collected from the rescue and transported straight home in a crate. Fences and gates must be 5ft min & secure.
