Training: Ares is a young German Shepherd. At the shelter, he has been known as an intense dog. He is positively oriented towards people. He is always present, loves playing with toys, digging holes, and all kinds of water containers. He gladly goes on long walks. He knows basic commands and is eager to learn new things. When he is relaxed, he appreciates cuddling. He accepts grooming procedures. He is very strong, inattentive, and can accidentally hurt someone - running into a person, grabbing a hand when taking a treat, etc. When he couldn't cope with his emotions, he would jump and bark. Such situations with high excitement are happening less and less often. Ares is better managing his emotions and knows his size. However, he should not live with small children, as he could unintentionally harm them. He reacts excitedly to other dogs, although this is much less than at the beginning of his stay at the shelter. He is now able to calmly pass other dogs and has had several positive interactions with stable dogs. He would probably do best as a single dog, although after a few introductory meetings, he might be able to live with a stable resident dog. Natural chew toys and sniffing help him control his emotions and calm down. He is calmer when he can carry something in his mouth; he has learned that this is a better way to release excess emotions than jumping or nipping at the handler. Predictable routines and routine help us "connect with the base." Ares has difficulty being separated from his caretaker, so the future home must be ready for possible separation anxiety. Left in the kennel, he does not destroy its equipment. The dog is also very greedy and obsessed with food. He is still learning that he will not run out of food. For his health and safety, his meals are given in a slow-eating bowl. He knows how to stay in rooms, but initially, he sometimes urinates when entering a new place. Work at the shelter on the problems Ares faces is much harder - noise, stress, close proximity to other dogs does not help achieve stabilization and calmness. In a domestic environment - a quiet surroundings, with understanding, patient caregivers, it would be easier. We recommend using the support of a specialist (behaviorist, trainer) from the beginning. For Ares, we are looking for a home: - in a quiet neighborhood, - without small children, - rather without other animals, possibly after previous acquaintance could live with a stable resident dog, - ready to work with the dog under the supervision of a behaviorist/trainer.

Usposobienie: Ares to młody pies w typie owczarka niemieckiego. W schronisku dał się poznać jako pies intensywny. Jest pozytywnie nastawiony do ludzi. Wszędzie go pełno, uwielbia zabawę zabawkami, kopanie dołów, wszelkiego rodzaju zbiorniki wodne. Chętnie chodzi na długie spacery. Zna podstawowe komendy i chętnie uczy się nowych rzeczy. Gdy jest zrelaksowany to docenia mizianie. Akceptuje zabiegi pielęgnacyjne. Jest bardzo silny, nieuważny, potrafi zrobić przypadkiem krzywdę – wbiec w człowieka, złapać za rękę przy braniu smaczka itd. Gdy nie potrafił sobie poradzić z emocjami zaczynał skakać i kopulować. Takie sytuacje z dużym pobudzeniem zdarzają się coraz rzadziej. Ares coraz lepiej opanowuje swoje emocje i zna swoje gabaryty. Nie powinien jednak mieszkać z małymi dziećmi, ponieważ mógłby im niechcący zrobić krzywdę. Reaguje pobudzeniem na inne psy, chociaż jest ono znacznie mniejsze niż na początku pobytu w schronisku. Jest już w stanie spokojniej mijać inne psy, miał też kilka rokujących pozytywnie interakcji ze stabilnymi psami. Najlepiej odnalazłby się jako psi jedynak, chociaż jest możliwe, że po kilku spotkaniach zapoznawczych byłby w stanie zamieszkać ze stabilnym psem rezydentem. W nauce opanowania emocji i uspokajaniu pomagają mu gryzaki naturalne, a także węszenie. Jest spokojniejszy, gdy może nosić coś w pysku, nauczył się, że to lepszy sposób na rozładowanie nadmiaru emocji niż skakanie czy podgryzanie przewodnika. Przewidywalne schematy postępowania i rutyna pomagają nam „nawiązać kontakt z bazą”. Ares ciężko znosi rozłąkę z opiekunem, więc przyszły dom musi być nastawiony na pracę z możliwym lękiem separacyjnym. Pozostawiony w boksie nie niszczy jego wyposażenia. Psiak jest też bardzo łapczywy i wkręcony na jedzenie. Wciąż uczy się, że mu go nie zabraknie. Dla swojego zdrowia i bezpieczeństwa posiłki dostaje w misce spowalniającej jedzenie. Umie przebywać w pomieszczeniach, ale początkowo zdarza mu się znaczyć moczem, gdy wchodzi do nowego miejsca. Praca w schronisku nad problemami, z którymi mierzy się Ares jest dużo trudniejsza – hałas, stres, bliskie sąsiedztwo innych psów nie pomagają w osiąganiu stabilizacji i uspokajaniu. W warunkach domowych – spokojnym otoczeniu, przy wyrozumiałych, cierpliwych opiekunach byłoby to łatwiejsze. Rekomendujemy, żeby korzystać z wsparcia specjalisty (behawiorysty, trenera) od samego początku. Dla szukamy Aresa domu: – w spokojnej okolicy, – bez małych dzieci, – raczej bez innych zwierząt, możliwe, że po wcześniejszym zapoznaniu mógłby zamieszkać ze stabilnym psem rezydentem, – gotowego na pracę z psem pod okiem behawiorysty/ trenera.
