Astor is an interesting mix between a Cocker Spaniel and a Labrador. He has the size of a Cocker Spaniel but the appearance more like a Labrador. Unfortunately, he is not neutered, but he gets along well with cats and also with neutered male dogs, although it doesn’t work so well with unneutered male dogs. For his age, his health condition is still quite good. He is still very fit and likes to go for long walks, except when it’s too hot! He has already lost some of his back teeth, but it doesn’t bother him much and he still enjoys gnawing on dried chicken breast. His eyes have also become cloudier, but this doesn’t affect his behavior. He goes where he wants to and finds the objects thrown for him with no problem. Astor is a sniffer dog. We did a truffle training with him, but we didn’t stick with it because truffles are not found where we are. Whatever his nose can do, he is still learning. He loves being outside and going for walks, which is why he is totally stressed by the new situation. I would be so happy if he could live more according to his nature again.

Astor ist eine interessante Mischung zwischen Cocerspaniel und Labrador. Er hat die Größe vom Cocerspaniel und das Aussehen eher vom Labrador. Leider ist er nicht kastriert, verträgt sich aber gut mit Katzen und auch mit kastrierten Rüden, nur mit unkastrierten Rüden funktioniert es leider nicht so gut. Für sein Alter ist sein Gesundheitszustand noch ganz gut. Er ist noch sehr fit und macht gerne lange Spaziergänge außer wenn es zu heiß ist! Einige Backenzähne sind ihm schon ausgefallen, aber das stört ihn nicht sonderlich und er kaut dennoch gerne getrocknete Hühnerbrust. Seine Augen sind auch trüber geworden, was in seinem Verhalten aber nicht auffällt. Er geht zielsicher dort hin wo er will und findet auch die für ihn geworfenen Gegenstände problemlos. Astor ist ein Nasenhund. Wir machten mit ihm eine Trüffelausbildung, blieben aber nicht dran weil Trüffel bei uns nicht zu finden sind. Alles was seine Nase angeht, ist er noch immer lernfähig. Er ist gerne draußen, geht sehr gerne spazieren und ist deswegen mit der neuen Situation auch total gestresst. Ich wäre sooo froh, wenn er wieder mehr nach seiner Natur leben könnte.
