Florecilla! Translated, it means “little flower.” And that’s exactly what Florecilla is—a delicate little flower waiting to be cherished and cared for. Florecilla is a very sweet and gentle dog who currently resides at our partner animal shelter, Al-Bayyaza, and is eagerly awaiting a loving home—one where she can start a new life together with people who are ready to welcome her with open arms. This sensitive and empathetic Podenco was spotted wandering alone on the streets. A kind-hearted animal lover alerted the shelter. With lots of patience and treats, she was lured onto a fenced property, allowing the shelter staff to safely capture her and bring her to safety. Like so many members of her breed, Florecilla has had negative experiences with humans in the past. It’s all the more remarkable, then, that she lets people pet her so willingly. Although she initially goes into a “protective stance,” she still thoroughly enjoys it, as evidenced by her cautious tail wagging. There’s still room for improvement, but the feeling is all the more rewarding when this little mouse gradually opens up more and becomes increasingly relaxed under petting. As a Podenco, she also carries a healthy dose of curiosity within her. And that will certainly help her adjust to her new home and the various situations she’ll encounter there—including getting used to wearing a harness and walking on a leash. For now, these activities aren’t quite her thing yet. But that can actually be turned into an opportunity to build a strong bond. Because once Florecilla realizes that going outside afterward means digging, jumping, and meeting up with canine friends, there’ll be no stopping her! A bit of patience and creativity will be needed to encourage her—but what more could you ask for when you see those little successes? Even if they’re still a bit small at first. A confident first dog would undoubtedly be a great support for her during the adjustment period. And she’ll even get a buddy to play with right away. However, having a companion dog isn’t a requirement for adoption.

Florecilla! Übersetzt bedeutet es: kleines Blümchen. Und das ist Florecilla auch. Ein zartes kleines Blümchen, das darauf wartet, gehegt und gepflegt zu werden. Florecilla ist eine sehr liebe und sanftmütige Hündin, die sich in unserem Partnertierheim Al-Bayyaza befindet und von hier auf ein schönes Zuhause wartet – bei Menschen, die mit ihr gemeinsam ein neues Leben beginnen. Diese sanfte und feinfühlige Podiseele wurde allein umherirrend auf der Straße gesichtet. Eine tierliebe Person benachrichtigte das Tierheim. Mit viel Geduld und Leckerlies wurde sie in ein eingezäuntes Grundstück gelockt, um sie einzufangen und in Sicherheit bringen zu können. Wie so viele Vertreter ihrer Rasse hat auch sie in Vergangenheit keine guten Erfahrungen mit den Menschen gemacht. Umso beeindruckender ist es, wie sie es geschehen lässt, dass man sie streichelt. Zwar geht sie am Anfang in „Deckung“, genießt es aber trotzdem, wie man am vorsichtigen Schwanzwedeln sieht. Da ist noch Luft nach oben, aber umso schöner das Gefühl, wenn die Maus sich immer mehr öffnet und entspannter streicheln lässt. Podimäßig trägt sie aber auch eine gute Portion Neugier in sich. Und das wird ihr sicherlich helfen, sich an das neue Zuhause und die entsprechenden Situationen zu gewöhnen. Dazu gehören auch das Anlegen vom Geschirr und das Laufen an der Leine. Ist momentan noch nicht ihr Ding. Aber das kann auch zum Aufbau der Verbindung genutzt werden. Denn wenn Floricella gemerkt hat, dass es anschließend nach draußen geht: zum Buddeln, springen, sich mit Hundekumpels zu treffen, wird es kein Halten mehr geben. Ein bisschen Geduld und Fantasie, sie zu animieren, wird nötig ist. Aber was will man mehr, wenn man Erfolge sieht. Auch wenn sie am Anfang etwas kleiner ausfallen. Ein souveräner Ersthund würde ihr mit Sicherheit in der Eingewöhnungszeit eine Hilfe sein. Und einen Kumpel zum Spielen gibt es gleich dazu. Das ist aber kein Adoptionskriterium.
